易混詞語辨析

1．turn downturn off

turn down意為“把(電視、收音機等)關小”；turn off意為“把(電視、收音機等)關掉”。例如：

My sister is sleeping. Please turn down the TV．我妹妹正在睡覺，請把電視機的聲音調小一些。

It’s time to go to bed． Please turn off the TV． 該上床睡覺了，請把電視關了。

2．quitevery

二者都含有“非常”之意，在很多情況下可以互換使用，但它們還有如下區別：

quite意為“相當、非常”，是程度副詞，可以修飾動詞、形容詞和其他副詞。例如：

It is quite good， but not perfect. 它相當不錯，但還不完美。

Most boys don’t like going shopping， but I quite like it. 大多數男孩中一般不作表語，只作定語。試譯：我的蘋果比他的蘋果多。

誤：My apples are more than his．

正：I have more apples than he.

2)當表示事物本身程度變化，不與其他事物相比較時，表示“越來越……”，要用“比較級+and+比較級”或\"more and more+(多音節詞的)原級”。例如：

It’s becoming more and more difficult to find a job． 找工作越來越困難。

3)當表示一方隨另一方程度的變化而變化時，即表示“越是……，就越……”用要“the+比較級…，the+比較級”固定結構。試譯：那位老人越忙越高興。

誤：The old man is busier， he is happier．

正：The busier the old man is， the happier he feels．

子不喜歡購物，但我非常喜歡。

very 意為“很、非常”，也是程度副詞，可以用來修飾形容詞或其他副詞，但不能修飾動詞。例如：

I’m not very interested in music.

我對音樂不太感興趣。

The teacher spoke very fast just now.

那位老師剛才講話很快。
