運用高級詞匯，提高作文提分

詞匯反映考生知識貯存量的多少，也是衡量考生英語水平的一個重要標志。根據多年的高考英語閱卷經驗，筆者認為，在書面表達中，只要考生使用了高級詞匯，即便是一兩個，也會令閱卷老師眼睛為之一亮，從而提高作文的得分檔次。高級詞匯并不是越難越好，越長越好，主要是指那些大部分考生都想不到，但又符合英語習慣表達的詞匯。例如：

1. At weekends，we have a lot of homework to do.

高級詞匯：endless

高級表達：At weekends，we have endless homework to do.

2. At the foot of the mountain，there was a small river.

高級詞匯：there flows...

高級表達：At the foot of the mountain，there flowed a small river.

3. This is a difficult job.

高級詞匯：challenging

高級表達：This is a challenging job.

4. As a result，the plan was a failure.

高級詞匯：prove to be，turn out to be.

高級表達：The plan proved to be a failure.

The plan turned out to be a failure.

5. Because the weather was good，we had a comfortable journey.

高級詞匯：thanks to

高級表達：Thanks to the good weather，we had a comfortable journey.

6. I thought out a good idea.

高級詞匯：hit，strike，occur to

高級表達：A good idea hit / struck / occurred to me.

7. He gave up his plan because he didnt have enough money.

高級詞匯：abandon，lack of

高級表達：He abandoned his plan for lack of money.

8. Ill thank you if you think about my application.

高級詞匯：appreciate，take...into consideration

高級表達：Ill appreciate it if you take my application into consideration.
