









Presto the wizard(巫師), Rusty the boar(野豬), Buzz the bee and Morose the cat lived in a forest house.
On an autumn evening, they were sitting out in the open*. Rusty asked Presto about their new friend, “Presto, when will Paws arrive?” “He will be here in the morning,” said Presto. “He is a clever and kind little pup.”
Early in the morning, everyone was still asleep*. Paws stood in front of the garden door. He was very happy.

Paws ran to his new friends. He first reached Morose and licked her in the face.* Morose was startled(受驚嚇的). She ran up the old pear tree. “I’m saved,” she thought*, but just then her nails slipped and she fell right on Paws’ head.*
Presto the wizard and Rusty the boar woke up*. They ran to the pup and cat.
Morose jumped off Paws’ head and hid(躲) behind the big and strong Rusty.
“This beast(野獸) tried to* bite(咬) my head off.” Morose said.

“Sorry. Were you singing just now(剛才)? That was a lovely song.” Paws said.
“Yes. But who are you?” the hedgehog asked.
