The DWC Plane Of The Douglas Aircraft Company
On April 6,1892, the American aircraft designer and the incorporator of Douglas Aircraft Company Donald. Wells. Douglas was born. From 1914 to 1915, Douglas helped J.C. Hunsucker to build up the first wind tunnel in MIT. In 1920, Douglas set up the Davis-Douglas Company. One year later, he acquired all the shares of the company, and changed the companys name as Douglas Aircraft Company.
On April 6, 1924, four DWC plane made by the Douglas Aircraft Company formed into columns, took off from Seattle and started the circumaviation. The DWC plane had twin blades and twin seats, in order to adapt to the circumaviation, its undercarriage was refitted to pulley and floating boat which could work alternately. Finally only two of those planes finished the circumaviation because of equipment troubles. They flew back to the commence place Seattle on September 28 of the same year. Douglas and his company became famous since then.
