The family crisis
Bill Gates was born in Seattle in 1955, a middle class family. His father was a famous lawyer, his mother was a teacher and a social activist. He has one sister and one younger sister. His families were close, they liked competitions such as board games, cards, table tennis and so on. There were certain activities and habits in his family. For example, they had dinner at the same time of each Sunday, and all the family wear the same pajamas on Christmas Eve.
Bill Gates showed the different level of intelligence when he was 11. He always asked his parents some questions about international relations, business and life. On one occasion, his parents took him to see the psychological doctor. When the doctor asked, he confessed that he was trying to have a war with his parents who want to control him. It is said that the doctor told gates parents that their son would eventually win the victory of the war of independence, and they had better reduce the interference of his life. The wise parents finally chose to “l(fā)et him go”, and sent him to the highest charged private school in Seattle——the Lakeside School.
The “miracle” in the school
In the second year of Gates entering the school, the council of Lakeside School made a decision of great vision and forward-looking: giving the students the opportunity to contact the computers. In the 1960s, Lakeside School became the first school that owns computers and has the computer curricular in the United State. Now, this school is famous for Gates, as he firstly contact to computers here.
In May, 1972, Gates was in his second grade of high school, he accepted the important task of preparing the curriculum for all the students. He compiled the course scheduling software with FORTRAN language, which overcame the uneven distribution of artificial arrangement, and eased the phenomena of overcrowded students in some courses.
When the opportunity comes
In the summer of 1974, Ellen dropped out from Washington State University firmly, and was employed by a company in Boston to do programming. On April 4, 1975, as a sophomore of the school of law in Harvard University, Gates and Allen founded a computer company in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The companys full name is “micro computer and software company”, it was the Microsoft company who achieved todays biggest software industry.
When Gates was 31 years old, he entered the Forbes Billionaire List Of The United States. On July 27, 2008, he formally quitted from Microsoft, and donated all his 58 billion dollars of personal property to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
