Clinical effect of montelukast sodium combined with compound ipratropium bromide on elderly patients with acute attack of bronchial asthma

[Abstract] Objective To investigate the efficacy of montelukast sodium combined with compound ipratropium bromide in the treatment of elderly patients with acute attack of bronchial asthma. Methods A total of 102 elderly patients with acute attack of bronchial asthma who were admitted to our hospital from December 2018 to December 2019 were selected as the research subjects and randomly divided into the control group and the research group， with 51 cases in each group. The control group was treated with inhalation of compound ipratropium bromide on the basis of conventional treatment， while the research group was treated with montelukast sodium tablets combined with inhalation of compound ipratropium bromide on the basis of conventional treatment， Clinical efficacy， pulmonary function indexes （PEF， FEV1%， FVC） and clinical symptom scores were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate in the research group was higher than that in the control group， and the difference was statistically significant （P<0.05）. The score of clinical symptoms （wheezing， cough， anhelation） in the research group and the control group after treatment was lower than that before treatment， and the difference was statistically significant （P<0.05）. The clinical symptom score of the research group was lower than that of the control group， and the difference was statistically significant （P<0.05）. The pulmonary function indexes （PEF， FEV1%， FVC） in the research group and the control group after treatment were higher than those before treatment， and the differences were statistically significant （P<0.05）. The pulmonary function indexes in the research group after treatment were higher than those in the control group， and the differences were statistically significant （P<0.05）. Conclusion The treatment with compound ipratropium bromide or montelukast sodium combined with compound ipratropium bromide in elderly patients with acute attack of bronchial asthma can obtain significant effects. However， montelukast sodium combined with compound ipratropium bromide has a better therapeutic effect， which can effectively alleviate the clinical symptoms and improve the pulmonary function of patients， and is superior to compound ipratropium bromide alone.
