Wisdom in Life

When I first began to think about wisdom， it was in Russel’s article，Knowledge and Wisdom. It is full of philosophical knowledge which is beyond our imagination at the beginning. And now， I’d like to talk something about what I have learned form Russel’s wisdom briefly and what I will definite the wisdom in my eyes shallowly.

Firstly， Russel’s wisdom is started with proportion. As far as I am concerned， it is like standard or percentage. When you have to judge something is right or wrong， some standard is necessary. Though the standard， you could make your judgment. Also， the boundary of judgment is fuzzy. So proportion well illustrate this question. It requires the capacity to take account of all the important factors and make clear the due weight of each factor. And then， you are less far from wisdom. In the mean time， wisdom also requires feelings and emancipation. As for the scene， both in public and private life.

In a word， Russel’s wisdom is great and profound. Although I can’t illustrate it well， it is fabulous that I have learned from it and perceive it in the righter and closer position than before. If it is requisite to examine my views towards wisdom， I’d like to share my opinion out of Russel’s wisdom. To begin with， I think wisdom equals to EQ （emotional quotient）that we usually call nowadays.

In my eyes， EQ is the IQ which you will use to deal with something， different with whether you are good at math， science， art or some learning else. And in Chinese， we call it ‘QingShang’. It is necessary when you are getting along with your family， friends， colleagues， boss and so on. Great EQ is a great knowledge.

For example， when you discuss with your boss but the opinions are absolutely opposite， it highly requires your EQ. It is that your way will determine whether you will continue working or not. Frankly speaking， if you take the wrong way such as argument， the end is always you are being detached or even fired. Instead， you should express your viewpoint in a right way which both make your boss accept your viewpoint and won’t hurt his face. Once you give him the respect， could he give you the respect as well as the chance. What’s more， the relationship between person and person is an art. It is always be considered that good relationship means the high EQ.

To be continued， according to the Doctrine of the Mean（中庸）， Confucius also said that love of learning is akin to wisdom. And Wikipedia definite wisdom is the ability to think and act using knowledge， experience，understanding，common sense，and insight. Furthermore， Buddhist scriptures teach that a wise person is endowed with good bodily conduct， good verbal conduct， and good mental conduct. So the understanding of wisdom is different from different perspectives. In my opinion， it is not convincing， but I’d like to say the most important thing is to use wisdom.

My favorite story is The Great Gatsby， this short novel tells a love story. Its main plot is about a person Gatsby had fallen in love with Daisy， but Daisy was not willing to marry him， such a poor man. Then Daisy and Tom got married. But Tom got some woman in New York， named Myrtle. So the fact is that Daisy’s life was not sweet. When Gatsby became rich， he achieved to renew old romance with Daisy for a short while. But finally， Daisy refused to come back to him for her infatuation of Tom’s wealth and status. But unexpectedly， Daisy knocked down and killed Myrtle. And Gatsby took all the responsibility. What’s more， Tom utilized Myrtle’s husband， and borrowed his hand to kill Gatsby. When read here， I witness that life was so cruel for Gatsby， not long after he tried hard to begin to build his dream; his dream began to break up cruelly.

On one one hand， Gatsby expressed his great mind when facing his love， . But on the other hand， he is totally not a wise man. As we can see， the most impressive thing he had do is only self-sacrifice. Through my viewpoint below， I think he is a little far from wisdom. However， if he think it is worthy， will other problems important？ Absolutely not.

Last but not least， wisdom is greatly different for different people as everyone differs the value of the same thing. Everyone can be a great and wise man with wisdom worth chasing in their eyes.
