Yu Yajun， a Businessman of Chongqing: Making Pressure Casting of China the World-Class Level

To grasp the “food” from the “mouth” of internationally famous company for the fi rst time

Chongqing Dajiang Meilixin Pressure Casting Limited Liability Company mainly made pressure castings at fi rst, and Yu Yajun is the head of the company. Ten years ago, he took over to restructure enterprise, and after continuous strategic adjustment, the enterprise has undergone transformation and upgrading after powerful push. Now the enterprise has connected with top 500 enterprises in the world, and the internationally firstrate “l(fā)ean factory with wisdom” has been built. In the fi elds of automobile engine cylinder, automatic gearbox shell, automotive construction parts, communication base station and so on, they have achieved the advanced level in the industry, their products have been exported to Europe, Asia, South America and other places, and the enterprise has established the status of benchmark in the industry.

To recall the fi rst step on the international track, we should date back from the end of 2004. Changan Suzuki moved to Dajiang industrial park, and at the fi rst time, Yu Yajun started to wonder how to take down this “big deal”. After several years, he couldn’t help feeling that it was the hardest time for his enterprise. He said: “our advantage is to make pressure casting parts. At that year, almost all the products had been imported from Japan, and people weren’t interested in domestic products, and this is equivalent to grasp the “food” from the “mouth” of internationally famous company, which is so diffi cult for us.”

In order to take the order, he had door-to-door selling in person. “If you want to gain other’s trust, you should have sincerity, and I have adopted a new operator schema of financial venture capital, and at that time, I have promised to others that if our products cannot meet their needs, they not only needn’t to pay, but also obtain 800,000 yuan as compensation.” Although this behavior has been doubted by many people, Yu Yajun has deeper consideration to adopt the behavior of risks being undertaken alone. He said: “I’m not only going to take this deal, but also to prove our strength to other “top notches” in the industry.” After two months, Yu Yajun has taken this purchase order with tens of millions of yuan annually as he likes it. Later, he leads his group and several automobile manufacturers signed research and development contract in the same term, quickly grasping a large batch of foreign cooperative partners.

To go on side by side with the communication giant of top 500 enterprises

No matter it is management system, strategic framework, or operation pattern, “innovation” is a commonly used word by Yu Yajun. He gave his eyes to communication industry, and the transformation has established the basis for the enterprise’s quick development. In 2005, when knowing that Ericsson, the transnational communication common carrier would seek the supplier of product, he was so excited. Although the products needed by this company belongs to a new field, he set up departments for special project right away, and paid a visit to related and most-famous enterprises, and hired professional and technical personnel…… At last, the products produced by his company have surpassed the foreign enterprise, for they not only have good quality, but also at a low price. So, he took the fi rst order successfully, becoming the mating manufacturers of top 500 enterprises.

This year, Meilixin pressure casting has involved in two industries successfully, such as, communication and general engine parts, and it has carried out business cooperation with Ericsson of Sweden, Briggs & Stratton Corporation of America, Honeywell of America, stepping out the first step to internationalization development of the company. Soon, the enterprise has developed high-level pressure casting for base station, with order of 0.4 billion yuan.

After several years’ efforts, the enterprise has gradually achieved quick development of products capacity in the fi elds of communication and general machinery and export market, thus to form a market pattern of four-side growing of automobile, communication, general machinery, electromechanical. The amount of exports was almost 50 million dollars in former years, and the number will break 60 million dollars in the future.

To draw close to the technological core of the world, and establish overseas research and development center

In the beginning of 2011, Meilixin pressure casting has offi cially signed direct supply contract and export logistics terms with Hutchinson of France, which has ushered a new chapter of export sales of company.

Therefore, Yu Yajun has gathered a scientific research team at home and abroad, invested huge resources, and now 1.2T, 1.4T, 1.6T turbocharged engine cylinder blocks have been researched and developed, among which, a large number of parts of rolled steel have been replaced by lighter and more reliable aluminum alloy pressure casting, which makes the engines and carloads lose weight evidently. Now they have owned proprietary intellectual property rights, and researched and developed independently, and created, which has achieved totally domestication, and broken the situation that engine cylinder blocks are monopolized by overseas-funded enterprises and joint venture enterprises for a long time, thus to replace the import.

After several times’ inspections and negotiations, Yu Yajun has integrated many resources, and finally the Europe overseas research and development center of Meilixin has been established in the Bavaria of Germany, and it has offi cially put into operation in November of 2015.

To establish intellectualization factory and speed up the development

“Nowadays, the structure of the value chain of automobile industry has taken great changes, and the automobile accessory enterprise plays a more important role in the automobile industry, and undertakes more and more tasks of research and development and production. In the future, the cooperative relationship between automobile production and automobile accessory will be closer, which is also helpful to improve their own competitiveness and ability to resist risks.” Yu Yajun has put forward the idea to create “l(fā)ean and intellectualization factory” within 5 years, and he will hold the post of the principal of IT project of the enterprise in person. Speaking of the future, he said that the technological key point of pressure casting in the future will be the focused research and breakthrough of some projects, such as, engine cylinder block, cylinder head, automatic gearbox, motor body, attachment bracket of engine and so on in the field of automobile. The industrialization of the cooling system of shell in the base station in the field of communication, the technology of magnesium alloy, fi lter and its heat dissipation technology will be researched and developed. The service industrial park of modern industry of Meilixin pressure casting is being built at present, and it will be completed to put into operation. The industrial park was planned and designed by German experts and famous industry designing institute of China, which is created totally according to the idea of Germany 4.0 and “Made in China 2025 Strategy”, and automation, digitization and intelligentialize will be achieved. According to the introduction of Yu Yajun, after the completion of the 100000-square meter integration industrial park, the annual value of production will achieve 2-3 billion RMB.

Yu Yajun often said: “the future of China is manufacturing industry, and only innovation can stand on the world’s forests.” With the deep integration of new-generation IT and manufacturing industry, China’s manufacturing industry still has infi nite imaginary space, and the blueprint in heart of Yu Yajun seems ready to come out at his call.
