5A Class Scenic Spot: Wulong Karst

Wulong Karst is a national 5A class scenic spot that including Three Natural Bridges, Fairy Mountain, and Lotus Cave (Furong Cave).

Fairy Mountain is a national 5A class forest garden, it covers the area of 8910 hectares, the aver-age elevation is 1900 meters, the highest peak is 2033 meters. It named as the Eastern Swiss because of its fascinating grass land on the mountain, snow fi led, and natural forest. With beautiful Lotus Cave, Lotus River, and Three Natural Bridges, they consist as the best scenic spots combi-nation for Chongqing’s tourism.

Three Natural Bridges located at southern Fairy Mountain, its location between Fairy Mountain and Wulong county. It comes with Lotus Cave and Houping Giant Doline (Houping Tiankeng) as the a world natural heritage by UNESCO. Three Natural Bridges are representative karst landforms, developing under the condition of intermittent uplifting movement of the earth. The scenic spot contains Tianlong Bridge, Qinglong Bridge, Heilong Bridge, literally dragon bridges, are the cluster of largest natural bridges in Asia. The mountain scenery contains forest, water, fog, springs, canyon, peaks, and waterfall, which consist the incredible tourism sight views.

Furong Cave is about 2,700 meters (8,858 feet) long, enclosing an area of 37,000 sq meters (44,251 sq yards). There are 100 species of sediment varying from carbonate to sulphur and over 300 scenic spots in the cave. The Glory Hall, covering an area of 11,000 sq meters (13,156 sq yards), is the most spectacular. The accumulation and breakage of stalagmites records the evolution of the limestone in the cave. Numerous and varied speleothems demonstrate the amazing force of nature. The beautiful scene is a wonder that nature created.

On 21st April 2016, there was the 1st “Spring of Budapest”Cultural Activity in Chongqing to give testimony for friendship between Chongqing and Pest Province. It was a great success that the activity led Chongqing citizens to experience special Hungary culture including cuisine, wines, inventions, photography, music, and fi lms.
