據《南洋商報》2016年12月6日報道，中國湖南省張家界市與馬來西亞大型旅游批發商蘋果旅游集團達成共識，將共同努力把馬來西亞打造為張家界旅游第二大客源國。

蘋果旅游集團負責人表示，張家界擁有許多世界唯一的獨特景致，在張家界市政府支持下，相信通過包機直飛、增加航班等措施，赴張家界旅游的馬來西亞游客數在2017年達到6萬人次的目標是能夠達成的。

據《越南投資報》2016年12月7日報道，越南計劃投資部擬延長經濟區內投資項目稅收優惠年限，即從目前的15年延長至30年。

享受優惠的對象需滿足以下條件：投資規模6萬億盾（約2.64億美元）以上，資金到位不超過3年，或使用勞動力3000人以上；投資規模12萬億盾（約5.28億美元）以上，資金到位不超過5年；投資經濟技術基礎設施項目（如水、電）等。

2016年12月9日，由中國貿促會與東盟各國工商會聯合主辦的中國—東盟跨境電商平臺在北京正式啟動。平臺先期以進口商品為主，主要包括東盟國家特產的特色水果、食品、保健品、日用品、百貨和美妝等。目前該平臺的供應商主要有馬來西亞海外旗艦店以及來自越南、新加坡、泰國、印度尼西亞等7個國家的商戶。

據越南《西貢經濟時報在線》報道，自2017年起，越南將給予柬埔寨11大類商品免進口關稅。包括：活禽、兩輪自行車、綜合纖維梭織布、大米等，但有配額限制，如超過配額將根據其他協定規定享受相應優惠。

2016年12月13日，馬來西亞和新加坡政府就馬新高鐵項目簽署具有法律效力的雙邊協議，雙方約定將于2017年正式啟動包含車輛系統在內的高鐵項目招標工作，并再次承諾該項目將于2026年底前實現通車。
