It is dusk. Who is rustling through the grass at the edge of the lake?
Beavers!
Beavers are tireless woodmen, and brilliant builders! They build dams across rivers. They work hardest through the night, from sunset to sunrise.

Beavers only eat plants. They eat the leaves, buds, shoots, bark and roots.
Beavers build dams to make a pool where they can raise their families in safety. All the beavers bring mud and branches to build the dam. The river soon looks like a building site!

The beavers are well protected in their lodge!
Beaver parents pair for life and look after their family together.
