The meeting was supposed to take place on Thursday,but we have to put it off.這場會議本應該在星期四舉行，但是我們不得不把它推遲了。

The train was supposed to arrive at 9:30,but it was 20 minutes late.火車本應在九點半到達，但它晚了20分鐘。

三、be supposed to的否定形式

be supposed to的否定形式是be not supposed to，相當于should not或be not allowed to，意為“不應該，不準，不得”。例如：

You are not supposed to smoke in public.It’s bad for our health.你不應該在公共場所抽煙。它對我們的健康有害。

Though your mother mistakes you sometimes,you are not supposed to talk back to her.即使有時候你的媽媽誤會了你，你也不應該頂撞她。

四、be supposed to的疑問形式

be supposed to的疑問形式是將be動詞提到主語之前。例如：

Is she supposed to arrive at the airport at three in the afternoon?她應該在下午三點到達機場嗎？

What are you supposed to do in class?在課堂上你應該做什么？

五、be supposed to的其他含義

be supposed to還可以表示“一般認為；據說”等含義。例如：

Her brother is supposed to be very clever.人們認為她的哥哥非常聰明。

Let's go and see that movie.It is supposed to be very good.我們一起去看那部電影吧。據說它非常好看。

be supposed to have done sth.表示“本應該做某事但沒做”。例如：

【注意】

be supposed to是一種被動形式，其主動形式通常為“suppose...to be+形容詞 /名詞”，意為“認為某人/某事……”。例如：
