For the first time， a representative survey shows to what extent domestic trade fairs are relevant to the export business in Germany. 63% of German exhibitors report that participating in international trade fairs in Germany is important or very important for their export business. This is one of the results of AUMA survey. This figure rises to nearly 70% for exhibitors in the high-export investment goods industry. In the consumer goods sector it is still a good 68%.

A major reason for the above finding is the fact that 30% of visitors to Germany trade fairs come from other countries. Especially for small and medium-sized companies， this is a favourably priced opportunity to build international business relations.

The Center for Exhibition Industry Research （CEIR） reports that growth of the exhibition industry during the fourth quarter of 2017 resumed after a temporary setback in the third quarter. The performance of the industry posted a strong year-on-year gain of 3.1%.

London-based business intelligence and exhibition company Informa closed the year 2017 with a revenue of ￡560.4m （up from ￡321.1￡m in 2016） on a high note. The British company reports an underlying revenue growth of +7.6% and reported revenue growth of 74.5% for its exhibition division

A recent UFI report finds that a very large majority of companies is looking to develop new activities with the majority expecting to generate up to 10% of revenue from new business models within 5 years.

UBM has benefited from good underlying growth in Annual Events and the biennial up year effect which raised the total events revenue in 2017 to ￡866.4m （2016： ￡711.6m）. Underlying revenue from Annual Events grew 3.6% （2016： 1.0%）， with strong growth from the existing portfolio （particularly in Asia）， a good contribution from new launches and growth in the Allworld events.

The Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre （SECC） is celebrating its centenary in 2018 when it also looks back on a successful 2017 with a total turnover of EUR 129m. Profit after depreciation was EUR 12m. The number of exhibition visitors rose on average by 5% over the previous assessment.
