廣州亞運體育文化中心的設計宗旨是建筑與周邊環境的和諧共生。曲線型的建筑造型給人以強烈的運動感，屋面相互搭扣，既有傾斜也有上翹，運用建筑造型去詮釋“體育是友誼的紐帶”這一主題。流暢的曲線，輕巧靈動的造型，寓意各國運動健兒在“亞運”友誼紐帶之下，和諧共處?？紤]到周邊高層建筑林立，設計尤其重視第五立面的展現，使立面同天面有自然順暢的過渡。

建筑空間布局采用嶺南建筑常用的內庭院式，體現了開放、親切、簡潔、現代、典雅、大方的特點，在圍合的院落空間里，充分考慮了室內的景觀視線、自然通風和自然采光。底層建筑局部架空，向內庭院和廣場開敞，其敞門、敞窗、敞廊、敞廳和敞梯，既形成景觀視線通廊，也引入東南季風，適合南方的氣候特點，減少了建筑能耗。□

The designing philosophy of the project is the harmonious coexistence of the architecture and its environment. In our design, we used the curve shape of the building to demonstrate the theme of "sports being the ties of friendship". All the smooth curves and lively forms were employed to send the message of the harmony of Asian communities under the in fl uence of the Asian Games.

In its spatial layout, it contains an inner courtyard, as typical of the style common in architecture of South China. Its outer appearance features openness, geniality, simplicity, modernity,elegance, and gracefulness. In the enclosed space of the courtyard, much consideration is given to the view, natural ventilation and natural lighting.

The partially open fl oor of the building allows it to open to the inner courtyard and the square, forming a view corridor and bringing in the southeast monsoon, fit for the climate in South China and efficient in saving energy.□
