Dong Han,14,developed a software program to stop people from becoming addicted (上癮的)to computer games.He studies at the Second Middle School of Bazhong City in Sichuan Province.His software won second prize during a national computer production competition,which was organized by the Ministry of Education.

Dong's software can help parents control the time that their children spend using the computer.They can set a certain time for use.When users run out of time,the computer will automatically(自動地)lock up.Parents can set website black lists and check the browsing(瀏覽)history,too.

It took Dong only a week to make it.It was all about programming.

For the past two years,Dong has taught himself the skill of programming through reading books and watching videos.When he ran into problems,he asked for help on CSDN,a network of software developers in China.

“For Chinese,the biggest challenge is the language,”he said.“Most programming languages are in English.It's easier to remember some English keywords first.”He suggests that beginners start with Visual Basic and Python programming.
