During the College of Lake County's semester abroad in China for spring 2019，students will experiencediverselandscapes（風景），a mild climate and Yunnan University in the country's southwestern region.ExperiencingChineseculture，makingnew friends and earning 12 or more college credits in the College of Lake County's semester abroad in Kunming，China will be included in the journey from Feb.20 to June 23，2019.The opportunity is offered at a special rate to the first 20 students to apply and be accepted into the program.

“Students will take classes at Yunnan University，one of the largest and most famous universities in China，”said Liliana Ware，CLCacademicoperations manager.Required courses include History of Chinese Culture and Society and Introduction to East Asian Civilization，availablein English.Elective courses include Chinese Language and two other courses—International Relations and American National Politics.

“Kunming is called‘the City of Eternal Spring'because it has a warmer and much milder climate than most of the other Chinese cities，”Liliana Ware said.“Students live in international housing on the beautiful university campusclose tomany cultural sites and attractions.There are also good andaffordableplaces to eat near the campus.Housing is near old-fashioned neighborhoodsas well asmodern shopping areas，and students will be accompanied by a CLC member.”

One CLC graduate who found the trip rewarding is Bernard Kondenar，an Antioch resident.He spent the fall semester 2017 in China before graduating in May with an A.A.S.in sustainable（可持續的）agriculture and gardening productionin addition toan Associate in Arts degree.

“I visited the tombs and palaces of the ancient emperors，bathed in the hot springs of grand mountains and even learned to recite a little Chinese poetry，” said Bernard Kondenar，who plans totransfer toLake Forest College in the fall and major in environmental science.“I am truly grateful to CLC for making this most gratifying（令人滿意的）and enriching experience possible.”
