豬年話說漢英詞典中的“豬”（上）

在中華傳統文化中，豬的地位與作用是毋庸置疑的。從語義學來看，豬也被稱為“豕”“彘”“豚”“豵”“豣”“豮”等，具有較強的語言表現力?！稜栄拧め尗F》對豬是如此解釋的：“彘，豬也。其子曰豚。一歲曰豵?！睆淖值南笮蝸砜?，“家”在其寶蓋頭下的“豕”，這里表達的就是豬的形象?！墩f文》的解釋為：“豕居之圈曰家”。由此可見，在古人的心目中，無豬是不成家的。從飲食學來看，豬是國人主要的肉食來源，其全身的每個器官，從頭至尾，都是大眾百吃不厭的佳肴?？鬃釉啤澳挷粎捈?，食不厭精”，這正是中國豬肉飲食文化精神的一種體現。從考古學來看，殷墟出土的甲骨文中已有“豕”的象形字，在浙江余姚河姆渡等新石器時代遺址中出土了距今六七千年家豬的骨骼，而在廣西桂林甄皮巖墓葬中則出土了距今九千余年家豬的豬牙和頜骨，這些都說明了中國豬文化具有悠久的歷史。從民俗學來看，豬是吉祥如意的象征，民間至今仍流傳著殺豬祭灶神的習俗以及“女媧造六畜”的神話故事，其中第三天造豬。據《山海經·北次三經》記載：“彘身而載玉”“彘身而八足”，這說明了人們對豬圖騰的崇拜。因“蹄”與“題”音諧，豬已成為莘莘學子金榜題名的吉祥物。在我國一些地區，豬頭叫“神戶”，豬舌頭叫“招財”，而豬耳朵則叫“順風”。難怪乎，我國最早的詩歌集《詩經》中就有詠豬的詩句：“執豕于牢，酌之用匏”（圈里捉豬宰殺，杯中酌滿美酒）、“言私其豵，獻豣于公”（自己留下小豬，大豬獻給公家）。

可以說，在國人的心目中，豬雖然有時成為骯臟、丑陋、蠢笨、懶惰、貪婪的代名詞，但更多的時候則代表了一種文化，代表著財富，代表著家庭，代表著吉祥，還代表著人的精神、人的品行、人的性格。

2019年，是中國農歷己亥年，即民間生肖紀年的豬年。在這豬年來臨之際，讓我們重新檢閱一下漢英詞典中一些與豬相關的說法，聊作一種新年之樂吧。

本文選取了《中華漢英大詞典》編纂者認為迻譯尚有特點的與豬有關的表達法，與廣大讀者共享并敦請廣大讀者質疑與指謬。

一、“豬”字的界定

3. “詈詞”之意 = <offens> damned， cursed， evil （person， etc）： ～狗 base beasts

二、與“豬”有關的兩字表達法

這方面的表達法，幾乎全為名詞。在這些名詞當中，不少為專用名字，其中包括一些比喻詞或詈詞。具體請見以下例子：
