1. Is there a hospital near here？

這附近有醫院嗎？

這是一個there be結構的一般疑問句形式。其肯定句型為“There be + sb/sth + 地點”，表示“某地有某人或某物”（there是引導詞沒有詞義;be 是謂語動詞;某人/物是主語;地點作狀語，多為介詞短語）。

There is a bank in the neighborhood.

附近有一家銀行。

2. The pay phone is across from the library.

付費電話在圖書館對面。

across from是方位介詞短語，意為“在……對面”。常見的方位介詞短語有：next to 在……旁邊，between... and... 在……和……之間，in front of 在……前面，in the front of 在……的前部。

3. Oh... wheres Center Street？

噢……中央街在哪里？

where是特殊疑問詞，含有“哪里，某地”的意思，一般用來詢問地點。where引導疑問句時，主謂要求倒裝，且助動詞必須與后面的主語保持一致。

—Wheres the park？

公園在哪里？

—Its on Center Street.

書在哪里？

—They are on the desk.

GRAMMAR FOCUS

There be句型

（1）There be結構表示“某地有某物或某人”。其基本句型為“There be + 某物或某人 + 某地”。

（2）there be句型的謂語動詞be在人稱和數上應與后面的第一個名詞保持一致。如果后面的名詞是可數名詞單數或不可數名詞，謂語動詞用is;如果后面的名詞是可數名詞復數，be 動詞用are。

There is a boy and two girls in the room.

房間里有一個男孩和兩個女孩。

There is some salad on the table.

桌上有一些沙拉。

There are some students in the classroom.

教室里有幾個學生。

（3）There be句型的否定句是在be動詞后加not。

There isnt a post office near here.

這周圍沒有郵局。

（4）there be句型的一般疑問句是將be動詞提到句首。肯定回答：Yes， there is/are;否定回答：No， there isnt/arent。

—Is there a bank near here？

這附近有銀行嗎？

—Yes， there is. / No， there isnt.

表示方位的單詞、短語

（1）behind 在……后面

There is a cat behind the door.

門后面有只貓。

（2）on the left/right 在左/右邊

Who is sitting on your right？

誰正坐在你的右邊？

（3）next to... 在……旁邊，緊挨著……

The bank is next to the library.

銀行在圖書館旁邊。

（4）in front of... / in the front of... 在……前面/在……前部

He is in front of the restaurant.

他在餐館前面。（餐館外）

（5）between... and... 在……和……之間

The garden is between a school and a store.

（6）across from... 在……的對面

（1）crossing ?n. ?十字路口

turn left/right at the + 序數詞 + crossing = take the + 序數詞 + crossing on the left/right，意為“在第幾個十字路口向左/右轉”。

Turn left at the second crossing.

= Take the second crossing on the left.

在第二個十字路口向左轉。

（2）on ones left 在某人的左邊;on ones right 在某人的右邊。

2. There is a zoo in my neighborhood.

我家附近有一個動物園。

“在附近”可以用near here，around here和in ones neighborhood來表示。

Is there a post office near here？

= Is there a post office around here？

= Is there a post office in your neighborhood？

這附近有郵局嗎？

3. To get there， I usually walk out and turn right on

Bridge Road. Then I walk along Bridge Road.

The zoo is on the right.

要去那兒（動物園）的話，我通常步行外出，在大橋路向右拐。然后我沿著大橋路直走，動物園就在右邊了。

（1）這是英語行文的一種方式，即在句子的開頭用To do... 短語，并用逗號將其與句子的主體部分隔開，相當于漢語“（若）要做……的話”。
