Feel the charm of Chinese culture
Laowai@Chongqing holds intangible cultural heritage tours for expats in Chongqing
寫書法、唱山歌、采茶葉……5月17日、30日,在重慶巴南區舉辦的“2020年老外@Chongqing·體驗非遺暨老外游鄉村”活動中,來自埃塞俄比亞、俄羅斯、白俄羅斯、法國、韓國、英國等國家的近20名青年在木洞鎮、二圣鎮等地,深度感受了中國傳統文化的魅力,體驗了巴南生態文明和鄉村振興建設成果及特色。
“這是我學寫的第一個漢字,我要收藏起來。”
“右手握毛筆,跟著我一起寫……”在木洞鎮河街,老外們跟著老師學書法。平時用慣了鋼筆的外國人,面對大毛筆,顯得有些不知所措。在老師的耐心指導下,大家嘗試著學習握筆、落筆。雖然第一次寫,字有些歪斜,卻絲毫不影響他們對中國文字的濃厚興趣。
“這是我學寫的第一個漢字,我要收藏起來。”一位來自埃塞俄比亞的小朋友高興地展示自己的書法作品,臉上洋溢著自豪感。
“第一次體驗磨豆花,太有意思了!”
來自俄羅斯的謝爾蓋在木洞村民的指導下體驗磨豆花,將豆子變為豆花,這個過程令他十分好奇。
“這是我第一次體驗磨豆花,太有意思了!”謝爾蓋說,他要將這次活動拍攝的照片、視頻發布在網絡上,讓家鄉的朋友也能看到,希望他們有機會也能來重慶體驗一番。
“我越來越愛中國了,特別是重慶巴南。”
在木洞鎮海眼村的一塊農田里,老外們向當地村民學習松土施肥。他們一邊唱著悠揚的山歌,一邊干著農活,興致勃勃地感受著最地道的農耕文化。
埃塞俄比亞駐重慶總領事館代總領事安特能·塔瑞庫感嘆道:“真是太有趣了!我越來越愛中國了,特別是重慶巴南。”
“巴南鄉村很美麗、很宜居!”
在5月30日舉行的體驗活動中,老外們來到二圣鎮白象山定心茶園和天坪山云林天鄉景區。在茶園采茶、制茶、泡茶、品茶,了解中國茶文化;在景區劃船、賞花、摘藍莓,深度感知巴南鄉村的美好生活。
“這里的農村生態環境很好,美麗又宜居,令人驚訝。”來自韓國的廉美花感嘆,巴南的鄉村顛覆了她的想象,鄉村風景秀麗,農民的生產生活都非常現代化。她說,讓農村越來越富有,這是中國的壯舉。
巴南盛情相邀在渝外籍友人體驗非遺文化
近年來,巴南區先后與日本、匈牙利、毛里求斯、澳大利亞、美國等國的城市開展交流活動,著力弘揚優秀傳統文化。連續兩年成功舉辦“老外@Chongqing·體驗非遺”系列活動,吸引了近千名外國青年參加,得到了社會各界的廣泛關注,拓寬了外國人體驗重慶傳統文化的渠道,也提升了重慶、巴南的國際知名度和美譽度。
巴南區委宣傳部相關負責人表示,今年的“老外@Chongqing·體驗非遺暨老外游鄉村”活動,繼續邀請在渝的外國青年學習非遺技藝,體驗重慶特色傳統文化的魅力。活動將從今年3月持續至12月,采取送學進校園、開設培訓班等方式持續搭建免費的線上線下學習平臺;結合端午、七夕、中秋等中國傳統節日,采取“非遺文化+傳統節日+鄉村旅游”的方式,讓外國青年深入了解重慶非遺,感受并傳播中華優秀傳統文化。

Learning calligraphy, folk songs, and picking tea leaves, about 20 foreign expats from Ethiopia, Russia, Belarus, France, South Korea and Britain participating in the 2020 Laowai@Chongqing Experience Intangible Cultural Heritage and Rural Villages Vsiting Program held in Mudong Town and Ersheng Town, Banan District of Chongqing, experienced how Banan's fruitful accomplishments were made under the ecologic and rural revitalization initiatives and truely felt the charm of traditional Chinese culture.
“This is the first Chinese character Ive learned to write. I'll add it to my collection.”
"Hold the brush in your right hand and follow me to write ..." At River Street, Mudong Town, foreign friends followed their teacher to learn calligraphy. Expats who are used to pens seemed a bit overwhelmed by big brushes. With patient instructions of the teacher, everyone tried to hold and maintain the brush, then started to create strokes. Although the words were written askew for this was the first time, it did not lower their interest in Chinese characters at all.
“This is the first Chinese character Ive learned to write. I'll add it to my collection.”A child from Ethiopia happily displayed his(her) calligraphy works, with pride on his(her) face.
"This is the first time I grind soybeans and make tofu pudding. Its very interesting!"
Guided by a local villager, Sergey from Russia is grinding soybeans to make tofu. The process of making tofu puddings out of soybeans made him extremely curious.
"This is the first time I grind soybeans and make tofu pudding. Its very interesting!” Sergey said that he will post photos and videos of this event online to share with friends at home and hope his friends could also have a chance to come to Chongqing and experience it.
“Im more in love with China, especially Banan of Chongqing.”
Foreign friends joined local villagers in the fields in Haiyan Village of Mudong Town and learned to loosen and fertilize the soil. Singing melodious folk songs while working, foreigners experienced the most authentic farming culture with great enthusiasm.
Mr. Anteneh Tariku, Deputy Consul General of the Consulate General of Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in Chongqing, lamented that:"This is great fun. Im more in love with China, especially Banan of Chongqing."
“Banan villages are beautiful and liveable.”
During an activity on May 30, a group of foreign friends went to Dingxin Tea Garden in Baixiang Mountain of Ersheng Town and Yunlintianxiang Scenic Area in Tianping Mountain. They learned about Chinese tea culture by picking tea leaves, processing tea leaves, brewing tea, and tasting freshly made green tea. They also experienced how the rural revitalization initiatives were implemented in villages in Banan by joining activities such as rowing boats, touring flower fields, picking blueberries in the scenic area.
"The rural ecology and environment here is very good and surprising. Villages are beautiful and livable." Liam Mihak from South Korea lamented that Banan villages were way beyond her imagination. Not only the scenery is stunning, the development here is rapid. The agricultural production and life of farmers are very modern. She also believed that it is a remarkable achievement of China to make concerted efforts in making rural areas more wealthy.
Banan's hospitable invitation to foreign friends in Chongqing to experience intangible cultural heritage
In recent years, Banan District has organized exchange activities with cities in Japan, Hungary, Mauritius, Australia, the United States and other countries, with a focus on promoting traditional culture. Banan has successfully hosted a series of activities under the framework of the Laowai@Chongqing·Experience Intangible Cultural Heritage Program for two consecutive years, attracting nearly a thousand young expats, which has received wide attention from all walks of life, provided more diverse access for foreign expats to experience traditional culture of Chongqing, and raised Banan's international reputation.
An official in charge of related programs of the Department of Publicity of Banan District Party Committee said that, this year's Laowai@Chongqing Experience Intangible Cultural Heritage and Rural Villages Visiting Programcontinues to invite foreign friends in Chongqing to learn skills of intangible cultural heritage and experience traditional culture of Chongqing. The program will be held from March to December, during which free online and on-site learning platforms will be established, such as campus activities and free training sessions. In the meantime, combining elements of traditional Chinese festivals such as the Dragon Boat Festival, the Qixi Festival (the Chinese Valentine's Day), and the Mid-Autumn Festival, the program links intangible cultural heritage, traditional festivalsand rural tourism together, allowingyoung foreign expats to get a deeper understanding of ChongqingsIntangible Cultural Heritage, to experience and promote traditional Chinese culture.
