1. treasure n. 財寶，財富

treasure在泛指珍寶時，是不可數名詞;具體指某件寶物時，是可數名詞。

They are going to the deep forest to find the buried treasure. 他們要去深林尋找被埋葬的珍寶。

This museum has many art treasures. 這家博物館收藏了許多藝術珍品。

2. island n. 島嶼

Diaoyu Island and Taiwan Island are both Chinese territory. 釣魚島和臺灣島都是中國的領土。

Hainan is an island in the south of China. There are four seasons like spring. 海南是中國南部的一個島，那里四季如春。

【溫馨提示】 island之前的不定冠詞要用“an”。

3. classic n. 經典著作，名著

War and Peace is a literary classic. 《戰爭與和平》是一部經典文學著作。

【辨析】 classic與classical

classic adj. 表示“經典的”，指質量好，第一流的。

The Story of the Stone is a classic that is worth reading. 《紅樓夢》是一部值得一讀的經典名著。

classical是指“古典的”，強調很有古風。

Do you like classical music or pop music？ 你喜歡古典音樂還是流行音樂？

4. hurry v. 趕快，急忙

Eric hurried along the road. 艾瑞克匆匆地沿路而行。

【拓展】 hurry up意為“趕快，急忙”;in a hurry表示“匆忙地，很快地”;hurry to do sth. 匆忙地做某事;“hurry to+地點”匆忙地趕到某地

Hurry up， or you will be late for school. 快點，否則你上學要遲到了。

They went home in a hurry. 他們匆忙地回家了。

You seem in rather a hurry to get rid of me. 看起來你急于想擺脫我。

I'm in a hurry to go to the town. 我要緊進城。

5. towards prep. 向著，朝著;對于;關于

I saw her walking towards the bank. 我看到她朝銀行走去。

Jean moved towards the door. 瓊向門口走過去。

【辨析】 toward和towards在用法和意義上基本無區別，可以互換，但前者用于美式英語中。類似的詞還有：forward 和forwards， backward和backwards， upward和upwards等。

6. land n. & v. 陸地;大地;國土;著陸

We are glad to be on land again. 我們很高興又踏上陸地了。

The river passes through our land. 這條河流經我們的國土。

The ship landed safely in the end. 船最后平安靠岸了。

In ten minutes the plane will land in Beijing. 飛機十分鐘后將會在北京著陸。

7. French n. & adj. 法語;法國人（的）

Our English teacher is not only good at English， she can also speak French. 我們的英語老師不僅僅英語好，她還會講法語。

All the workers in this factory are French. 這家工廠的所有工人都是法國人。

【拓展】 France n. [地名]法國，法蘭西

He travelled France from end to end. 他游遍了法國。

8. southern adj. 南方的

She lives in southern Italy. 她住在意大利南部。

【拓展】 south n. 南，南方，南部

The town lies ten miles to the south of here. 那個小鎮位于這里以南10英里處。

9. success n. 成功

He finally achieved success. 他最終獲得了成功。

【拓展】 success n. 成功，成就，作可數名詞，也可作不可數名詞。復數……
