澳大利亞人Tim是2007年到杭州的，因為當時在悉尼科技大學讀的電氣工程+國際交流（浙江大學交流學習）雙學位，讓他了解了杭州。完成了國際交流學位后，他繼續悉尼科技大學工程師管理研究生的學習，研究生畢業后舉家回到杭州，從2010年年底開始長住杭州。

正是因為了解中國歷史和文化，加上雙語的優勢，Tim為浙江文旅國際和國內的推廣做了許多有意思的工作。由于熱心公益，他還創辦了浙江省第一支國際志愿者隊伍，為浙江國際志愿者隊伍的發展做了一定的貢獻。

Tim的中文名字叫江添文。我去見他時，他正拿著手機不停地低頭“碎碎念”。“他在學愛爾蘭語。這人特別有語言天賦，也非常善于利用碎片化時間。他會說印度語，也會簡單的韓語、日語、意大利語，還會說粵語，簡單的方言也會說一點。”Sam（陳爽，Tim的太太）告訴我，“我是金華浦江人，Tim可以用浦江方言和我的家里人聊天。過年過節回老家，親朋好友圍成一桌，大家講著方言他回復普通話，偶爾來上兩句簡單的浦江話，特別接地氣。”

2020年，是Tim來杭州的第11個年頭，杭州已經成了他名副其實的第二故鄉。“我有很多頭銜，‘新時代杭州十大青年英才‘杭州文化旅游推廣代表等等，不過我還是最喜歡‘Sam的先生，兩個孩子的父親這個身份。”Tim說。

Tim是中國女婿，丈母娘家在浙江金華的浦江。今年國慶中秋，一家人去Sam的老家呆了幾天，逗逗村道上的狗，幫丈母娘摘毛豆，Tim喜歡極了這種簡單的生活。

Tim說：“在我們家，愛人、孩子永遠是家庭的第一位，除非偶爾回澳洲探親或者出國工作，不管誰出差超過3天，另一位基本上就會安排好工作過去陪伴對方。因為我們倆工作都比較忙，又要自己帶孩子，所以不太出去玩，除非是一家人的旅游。我的愛好？就是學習新鮮的事情。可能今天我在學語言，Sam就覺得必須學點什么;Sam學了新東西，我又覺得落后了。”

“我偶爾睡懶覺，他會給我準備好早餐，送到房間里來。平時就算他很忙，也會為了我和孩子們特意趕回家做頓飯，而他自己可能隨便吃點。”Sam談到Tim時滿臉幸福。

“杭州是個幸福指數特別高的城市，如果外國游客來這里旅游，那會是一件非常美好的事情。”Tim不假思索地推薦起杭州來：“在杭州旅游會特別放心，無論是旅游紀念品甚至食物，價格都特別透明。在浙江旅游特別安心，杭州的旅游警察特別有趣，不僅會說各國語言，還會把防詐騙的段子說給游客聽;而且旅游熱線也特別管用，會幫游客解決各種實際問題。來浙江旅游特別方便，從吃飯、購物、坐公交、租用共享單車，到醫院繳費等，只要帶上一部手機就能對付過來。來浙江旅游特別愉悅，浙江人不排外，特別有包容性，無論是在景區還是在社區，遇到了困難，一定會有人出來幫助你。”

回想起來杭州的這11年，Tim發現這一路走來其實并不容易，語言不通、交流不暢等問題他都碰到過。但隨著他在杭州的根扎得越來越深，能做的事情也越來越多。

Tim真的是一位不斷學習的人。2014年開始，Tim又在浙江大學參加了臨床醫學本科（中文授課）的學習。如今，Tim已經完成了他的臨床醫學課程。

“我是你們平時說的‘熊貓血，這是我在浙大學習臨床醫學后才發現的。之后我就開始堅持獻血，到現在為止已經捐獻了2000毫升，我還會繼續做下去。能幫助到別人，能為這座城市做一些力所能及的事情，我會覺得自己也真的成為了她的一部分。”

“這些天我在準備國際行醫執照的考試，等這個執照拿到，就可以幫助更多的人了。”前幾年，Tim和妻子Sam一起成立了Injoy國際志愿者俱樂部，起初只是想幫助在杭州的外國人盡快適應新生活。隨著Tim學醫后，Injoy國際志愿者俱樂部的“服務”也開始升級。“我們會建議俱樂部的成員去考國際急救證，同時志愿者們也會下載一個App，如果遇到緊急狀況，附近500米的志愿者就會收到信息，趕往現場進行急救。前不久，俱樂部一位資深的志愿者就成功救回了一名觸電倒地的市民的生命，我覺得這樣的相互幫助特別有意義。”

聯系Tim的那天，他和愛人Sam正陪小女兒在幼兒園面試，隨后便是新生家長會、新生音樂會……“家里兩只小神獸‘歸籠了，我們也可以專心做一些自己的事情。我最近在學愛爾蘭語，我太太準備考普通話二級甲等證書和國際漢語教師資格證。”

在Tim的心目中，浙江的景觀、歷史和人文結合得非常密切。“西湖、運河、良渚古遺址公園、錢塘江……這些帶有真實歷史和故事的景致，對我們外國人來說非常具有吸引力。

Tim非常喜歡良渚古遺址公園，在他眼中，良渚是一個地名、一個文化、一個文明，更是一個傳說。“它真的是一個無比偉大的發現，距今5000年的古文明在杭州附近被發現，也將中國的文明史定格在5000年以上。從良渚文化、絲綢文化到茶文化，加之眾多家喻戶曉的傳說，成就了杭州文化。。”

Tim喜歡中國歷史文化方面的書籍，喜歡找杭州本地人聊天.他用流利的漢語表達自己對東方文化的理解，這水平常常讓身邊的人驚訝。G20杭州峰會期間，Tim擔任了中央電視臺《G20杭州味·典故杭州》的特邀主持，受邀直播樂視《Tim帶你看杭州》等欄目，他也是中華人民共和國成立70周年CGTN（中國國際電視臺）全球直播特別新聞節目的特邀評論員、烏鎮世界互聯網大會的國際嘉賓……在各大媒體頻頻亮相，推廣杭州，推廣浙江。

在Tim的理解中，一個城市的國際化其實是一種“感覺”。“指示牌的英文標識、英文書籍的數量、當地人說英語的水平乃至對陌生人的微笑，都是這個城市國際化的表現。我覺得有些對外的工作可以交給外國人來做，因為我們可能更懂外國人。”作為中國的洋女婿，Tim覺得自己最大的優勢就是非常了解雙方的語言、文化背景。接下來，Tim想做一本介紹良渚文化的國際版書籍，“我相信這樣的書籍，可以讓良渚、杭州、浙江在外國人眼中有更高的認知度和接受度。”

Tim眼中的杭州，在流水潺潺、楊柳堆煙、暖風拂面、移步換景中盡是歷史。“我要做新馬可波羅，讓全世界了解更好的杭州、更好的浙江。”

Timothy William Mayo Clancy is known to his friends as Tim in English and Jiang Tianwen in Chinese. A student majoring in electric engineering at University of Technology Sydney， he came to Hangzhou in 2007 to study at Zhejiang University for his double major in international exchanges. After acquiring a master degree in engineering management at his alma mater， Tim came back to Hangzhou with his family. He has been in Hangzhou since the end of 2010.

When I went to interview him， he was muttering something while looking at his mobile phone. Sam， Tims wife， explained that he was studying Irish. “He has an aptitude for languages. He speaks Indian. And he has working knowledge of Japanese， Korean and Italian. He speaks Guangdong dialect. And he speaks my dialect. I am a native of Pujiang County. When we are home and friends and relatives come to see us， we sit around a table and chat. They speak the dialect and he speaks Putonghua. Occasionally he speaks some sentences in the dialect.”

2020 is the 11th year Tim spends in Hangzhou， which is now his second home. “I now have some titles. For example， top ten new era young talents of Hangzhou and envoy for promoting culture and tourism of Hangzhou. But I like to be identified as Sams husband and father of two children，” says Tim proudly.

The 11 years in Hangzhou arent easy for Tim. In the early years， he ran into some problems such as language barrier that led to poor communication. He has kept his curiosity about the new world opened up by the city where he now lives. The year 2014 saw him start studying clinical medicine taught in Chinese for a bachelors degree at Zhejiang University. He has finished his medical study.

“I am what is usually known as Panda Blood. After I learned about my rare blood type during my medical study at Zhejiang University， I began to donate my blood. I have donated 2，000 millimeters over years. The fact that I can help other people and contribute what I can to the city makes me feel I am part of the city，” remarks Tim. “I am preparing to take the test for the international license for medical practice. When I get the license， I can help more people.”

A few years ago， Tim and Sam founded InJoy， a club of international volunteers designed to help internationals new in Hangzhou adapt fast and smoothly to the life and work in the city. After Tim started studying medicine， the club upgraded its service to include some medical assistance. “We urge our members to get the international first-aid certificate. Volunteers use an App to call for help when they run into an emergency situation. Our volunteers who are within 500 meters will rush to the spot and do first-aid immediately.”

While I was interviewing Tim about his life in Hangzhou， Sam and their younger daughter was in an interview at a kindergarten. “With the two children in the kindergarten， Sam and I have more time for ourselves. I am studying Irish and my wife is preparing to get the Mandarin Secondary-level A Certificate and the Certificate for Teachers of Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages.”

In Tims eye， Zhejiang is a province where nature， history and culture are interwoven intimately. “The West Lake， the Grand Canal， the Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City， the Qiantang River， all have history and stories， and they are very attractive to internationals.”

Tim has a particular obsession with the archaeological ruins in Liangzhu. “Liangzhu is an incredible discovery. It traces ancient Chinese history to 5，000 years ago. Hangzhou is made of Liangzhu Culture， silk， and tea and well-known legends and folk stories，” says the Australian.

Tim likes to read books on Chinese culture and history and loves to chat with locals of Hangzhou. Many Chinese are surprised to find that he knows so much about Chinese culture and expresses himself so well in Chinese.

During the G20 Summit 2016， which was held in Hangzhou， Tim was engaged by China International Television Network to host a television program showing international friends around Hangzhou. In 2019， he appeared as a special commentator at CGTNs worldwide live streaming of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Peoples Republic of China.

Tim thinks his strong point is his background of dual cultures and dual languages. Tim plans to write a book on the Liangzhu Culture for international readers. “I am sure such a book can enhance foreigners awareness of Liangzhu， Hangzhou， Zhejiang. I want to be a Marco Polo and enable the world to know more about Hangzhou and Zhejiang，” remarks Tim.
