我們時常需要對所接觸的人或事進行判斷和評價：這個人怎么樣？這件事值得不值得做？準確的判斷會使我們少走彎路，起到事半功倍的效果。對一個人或一件事進行評價的原則要依據客觀事實作出公正嚴肅的評價。下面我們一起來學習如何用英語對人和事作出正確的判斷和評價。

【熱身練習】

A. So， I think we should get rid of Jack.

B. I imagined he would have finished the job perfectly.

C. He started out okay， but wasn't able to finish the job.

D. Not really.

E. Yes， there doesn't seem to be any improvement.

F. I guess you're right.

G. It's only your will that can help.

M： Well， you know what they say： “A chain is only as strong as its weaker link.”? ? ? ? ? ? ?

W： Isn't that a little strict？

【常用表達】

He may be right. 他可能是對的。

I feel as if it were going to rain. 我覺得好像要下雨了。

I judge him to be about 40 years old. 我斷定他有四十多歲。

I think they must have left early this morning. 我想他們今天早晨一定很早就走了。

It may rain before evening. 傍晚以前可能下雨。

My English teacher is a responsible man. 我的英語老師是個有責任心的人。

Your speech is great， but is still a lack of self-confidence. 你的演講很棒，但還是缺乏自信。

Your language is very fluent， but the speech is not enough deep understanding of the content. 你的語言很流暢，但對于演講內容的理解還不夠深刻。

The language of your organization and the voices are very good and also very confident. 你的語言組織能力和聲音都很不錯。

W： What's the last news about Sam？

M： I talked to him last night on the phone and he said he's feeling a little better.

W： How long has he been in the hospital？

M： Nearly two weeks. He was really sick. The doctors thought he was going to die.

W： I guess he's pretty tough.

M： He is， but he also got excellent care. The nurses were just super， and his family doctor gave him a lot of special attention.

W： Some of these modern drugs can perform miracles， I guess.

M： That and the expert care he received pulled him through.

W： Does he have any idea when he'll be able to go back to work？

M： He's not certain， but the doctor is saying， now， that is might be another three weeks.

W： It sure will be good to see old Sam back on the job again. I really miss him.

M： Um-m. Yeah. So do I.

M： Mary， could you tell me the exact time？

W： I'm sorry， Hank. My watch seldom keeps good time. It goes wrong sometimes.

M： You should have it cleaned and regulated. What is the time by your watch？

W： It's ten minutes to two.

M： Your watch must be slow. Its two sharp by my watch.

W： Your watch must be fast.

M： It can't be. I set it last night by TV.

W： Don't you remember ever since you bought it， it gains five minutes a day. You'd better have it repaired.

M： You are right. But I don't want to， for it helps me deal with daily work as early as possible.

W： In that way， that's good for you.
