多年前，“我”拾起了凱爾的書和眼鏡。多年后，他的畢業(yè)演講讓“我”感到無限欣慰。

1One day， when I was a freshman in high school， I saw a kid from my class walking home from school. His name was Kyle. It looked like he was carrying all of his books.

2 As I was walking， I saw a bunch of kids running at him， knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him， so he landed in the dirt. His glasses went flying. I jogged over to him. As he crawled around looking for his glasses， I saw tears in his eyes. I handed him his glasses and helped him pick up his books.“Those are bad guys. They should be punished， ”I said. There was a big smile on his face. It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude.

3 Kyle lived near me. We hung out all the weekend， and the more I knew Kyle， the more I liked him. Over the next four years， Kyle and I became best friends. After gradua- tion， we went to different colleges. But we would always be friends and distance would never be a problem.

4 On the graduation day， Kyle had a speech for graduation. He cleared his throat and began，“Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those tough years： your parents， your teachers， your siblings， maybe a coach—but mostly your friends. Being a friend to someone is the best gift you can give him or her. I am going to tell you a story... ”I just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told the story of the first day we met. He felt very down that day and didn ，t want to go to school. He cleaned out his locker andwas carrying his stuff home so his mom wouldnt have to do it later. He looked hard at me and gave me a little smile.“Thankfully， my friend healed me. ”

5 I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome boy told us all about his weakest moment. I saw his mom and dad looking at me with the same grateful smile. Not until that moment did I realizefriendships depth.

6 Never underestimate the power of a strangers friendship and kindness. With one small gesture， you can change a persons life.
