“進得城來，但見家家泉水，戶戶垂楊，比那江南風景，覺得更為有趣。”

這是晚清作家劉鶚在他的小說《老殘游記》中的一段描寫。穿越歷史的長河，“家家泉水，戶戶垂楊”這八個字已經深深地鐫刻進濟南的老街巷里，成為泉城最傳神的表達。

如果說老街巷是濟南的筋骨，那么密布于街巷間的靈動泉水，無疑是這座城市的靈魂。眾多清冽甘美的泉水，從城中涌出，匯為河流、湖泊。護城河是一條連接泉水和城市的紐帶，從河的這頭走到河的那一頭，沿途都是賞心悅目的景色。眾泉匯流而成的大明湖，與千佛山遙相呼應，構成“一城山色半城湖”的美麗畫卷。

或如沸騰的急湍，噴突翻滾；或如傾瀉的瀑布，獅吼虎嘯；或如串串珍珠，燦爛晶瑩；或如悠揚的琴瑟，鏗鏘有聲……七十二名泉以其眾多的泉點、豐沛的水量、優異的水質，以及壯觀的噴涌景觀，成為中國巖溶泉的典型代表，不計其數的文學家為之贊嘆。早在宋代，曾鞏就評價道：“齊多甘泉，冠于天下。”元代地理學家于欽亦稱贊說：“濟南山水甲齊魯，泉甲天下。”

泉水構成了濟南獨特的城市風貌和歷史人文景觀。在這里，歷代名人寫下了數以萬計的名泉詩詞、文賦，無數精妙的歷史傳說和諸多的名勝古跡，形成積淀了濟南獨特的泉水文化。每一處名泉的背后都隱藏著一個講不完的動人故事。

千百年來，泉水滋養著這里的每一寸土地，萬物因泉水而青蔥，城市因泉水而拔節，百姓因泉水而靈性。走進泉城街巷，斟一杯清香四溢的泉水茶，品一塊在泉水中長大的蓮藕，看清泉在青石板路上流淌，別有一番滋味。

If old streets and alleyways are the bones of Jinan， the flowing springs densely distributed amid these streets and alleyways will be undoubtedly the soul of this city. Numerous limpid and sweet springs gush out of the city， and flow into rivers or lakes. The moat is a bond between spring water and the city. Walking from one end of the river to the other， you will see delightful scenes along the way. The Daming Lake where numerous springs converge chimes in with Mount Qianfo from afar to compose a beautiful picture—“The city is featured by mountains and half inlaid with a bright lake”.

With numerous spring features， abundant water， outstanding water quality， as well as splendid gushing sights， “72 Famous Springs” have become typical examples of China’s karst springs. Countless men of letters and essayists have praised them.

Springs constitute the unique city style and historical and cultural landscape of Jinan. Here， celebrities of past dynasties wrote tens of thousands of poems and essays depicting springs， and left numerous subtle historical legends， scenic spots and historic sites， which have formed the unique spring culture of Jinan. There is a moving story behind every famous spring.

For millennia， spring water has nurtured every part of the land， made everything lush， upgraded the city， and inspired the people. It will be fun to walk down the streets and alleyways of the City of Springs， pour a cup of fragrant spring water tea， taste the lotus root growing in spring water， and watch the clear spring flowing alongside the flagstone path.
