We all know that China is a country with a long history.When the 5000-year-long history goes through my mind, what should be the symbol of Chinese culture? In my opinion, it’s the 24 solar terms.

Traditional Chinese lunar calendar divides a year into 24 solar terms. They tell people what to do in different times of the year. The 24 solar terms lie not only in ancient times, but also in many details of modern people’s life. For example, there are many customs about the 24 solar terms. On the winter Solstice, people eat dumplings and there is still a saying that goes, ‘‘Eat dumplings on the winter Solstice, or your ears will be frostbitten.’’

The 24 solar terms are only common sense. Nowadays the youth know little about them. But Zhang Yimou impressed the whole world with the 24 solar terms on the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022. Now they are world-famous. We’re all proud of them. Of the most importance is that our ancestors devoted most of their lives exploring and finally found the rule. It is the creativity that pushes for the development of Chinese culture. And it is the spirit of making a continuous effort to create something inspires us forever. As a result, the 24 solar terms are the outcome of wisdom, and the symbol of Chinese culture in my mind.
