Yang Zhenning

When talking about the greatest physicists in the world， Yang Zhenning is a name that should never be forgotten. No matter where he has been， Yang Zhenning has always kept his motherland in mind.

Yang had a great interest in physics from a young age. After getting a master’s degree in Tsinghua University in 1944， Yang got the chance to pursue further studies in the United States. There he met another Chinese student， Tsung-dao Lee（李政道）， who shared the same interests， and they often discussed on various physics topics together.

They came up with a physics theory together， leading to important discoveries in elementary particles. Months later， the two won the Nobel Prize in Physics for their theory. Their achievement proved that Chinese scientists could stand out in the global stage of science and compete with other scientists.

However， due to the “frozen” Sino-US（中美） relations， Chinese scientists who received doctoral degrees（博士學(xué)位） in the US were unable to return to China.

Then， in 1971， Yang finally got the chance to return to China for a visit. Later， Yang sold a house in the US and donated the money to Tsinghua University. In 2003， Yang returned to China and also taught students at Tsinghua University.

With his influence， many overseas Chinese returned to China to make contributions， such as Turing Award winner Yao Qizhi and physicist Wu Xiaogang.

“I am as proud of my Chinese heritage（傳統(tǒng)） and background as I am devoted to modern science， a part of human civilization（文明） of Western origin.”

How does Yang Zhenning show his love for his motherland？

每個(gè)時(shí)代都有偉大的科學(xué)家，如錢學(xué)森、錢三強(qiáng)、鄧稼先、屠呦呦等。這些閃耀著奮進(jìn)之光的人，推動(dòng)了國家的發(fā)展和科學(xué)的進(jìn)步。你最崇拜的中國科學(xué)家是誰？請(qǐng)簡單介紹一下他/她的基本情況以及他/她在科學(xué)領(lǐng)域的成就，最后談一談你為什么崇拜他/她。

Qian Xuesen is a famous scientist. He is honored with the name “father of missile”. People think he is unique， extraordinary， but in my opinion， he is just an ordinary person.

He was born in Shanghai in 1911. In 1934， he graduated from National Jiao Tong University. In 1935， he left his home country to study in the United States. 20 years later， he returned to China. He helped China successfully developed missiles， satellites， etc. His research made great contributions to China’s rocket development. These are his ordinary and extraordinary qualities！

Qian Xuesen is a hero in my heart. As a teenager， I think we should never forget him and his excellent achievements. We can learn more from him.

第二段，小作者主要基于科學(xué)家的學(xué)習(xí)經(jīng)歷展開寫作，沒有突出科學(xué)家的品質(zhì)、愛國情懷以及偉大貢獻(xiàn)。

I admire Qian Xuesen most. He is a famous scientist not only in China but also in the whole world. He is honored with the title “father of missiles” and is respected as a national hero.

As a student， he worked hard. After he graduated from National Jiao Tong University， he studied in the United States. He returned to homeland as soon as China was set up， despite having many difficulties. As a scientist， he devoted all his life to serve his country. His research played a key role in the development of rockets. He with his team successfully launched China’s first satellite into space.

I think we should never forget his love to motherland as well as his excellent achievements. We should study hard and carry forward his legacy.
