Experiencing Chongqing and Boosting Cultural Exchanges Between China and the World

On March 29, the 2023 “China in My Eyes—Colorful Folklore” Short Video Contest Awarding Ceremony and the Youth Dialogue on Intercultural Communication were held in the Chongqing Municipal Foreign Affairs Building. The attendees included 1) Zhao Shiqing, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chongqing Municipal Peoples Congress and President of the Chongqing Peoples Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries; 2) Li Xikui, Vice President of the Chinese Peoples Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC); 3) Wang Wen, Director-General of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Chongqing Municipal Government and Executive Vice President of the Chongqing Peoples Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries; 4) Zhou Jianping, Deputy Director-General of the Cultural Exchanges Department of CPAFFC; and 5) Li Mingquan, Deputy Director-General of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Chongqing Municipal Government and Vice President & Secretary-General of the Chongqing Peoples Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.

Transcending Cultural Differences and Better Telling Chinas Stories

At the Youth Dialogue on Intercultural Communication, 14 winners from 12 countries, including Russia, Belarus, Liberia, Indonesia, and Bangladesh, gathered with representatives of CPAFFC and sub-national associations for friendship with foreign countries, media professionals, short-video influencers, and young students. They exchanged and shared their experience on two themes—experiencing Chongqing and boosting cultural exchanges between China and the world. From the perspective of their works, the representatives discussed how to uncover the cultural stories behind folklore, the promises and prospects of short videos in fostering cross-cultural communication, and how to transcend cultural differences and better tell Chinas stories so that the world can better understand the glamour of traditional Chinese culture and the vitality of contemporary China. What they shared was warmly received by other attendees.

MOLITVINA ZLATA, an international student from Kyrgyzstan at Sichuan International Studies University, said, “Im delighted to see my work China in My Eyes—Meeting in Youyang win the first prize, and I hope to show the world the picturesque natural scenery, profound historical and cultural legacy, and colorful folklore of Youyang.” Zamira SADYKOVA, an international student from Russia at Jilin University, has been studying in China for eight years. She said, “My life in China is full of surprises. There are too many differences between the ancient and the modern, as well as the south and the north, and their integration allows me to discover the unique landscape and culture.”

“Friendship between the peoples holds the key to sound state-to-state relations, and people are the best bridge for exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations.” Li Xikui, Vice President of CPAFFC, said that with time-honored history, Chongqing shines like a pearl with unique cultural charm. On the 70th anniversary of its establishment, the CPAFFC will cooperate with Chongqing and other parts of China to promote closer people-to-people exchanges and friendship. It aims to further leverage the advantages of such exchanges for mutual learning among civilizations, and contribute to the building of a global community of shared future.

Enjoying the Charm of the Mountain City and Showcasing Its Appeal to the World

From March 25 to 28, the winners of the 2023 “China in My Eyes—Colorful Folklore” Short Video Contest focused on new quality productive forces, the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, rural revitalization, revolutionary culture, and world cultural heritage, collected folklore materials of Chongqing, and experienced its unique charm and contemporary beauty in an all-round way.

“More than 1,000 robots collaborate in order, with their robotic arms extending, retracting, and rotating. Here, it only takes five seconds to stamp a set of vehicle parts.” At the SERES Phoenix Intelligent Factory, the innovation capability of “intelligent manufacturing in Chongqing” greatly broadened the horizons of the folklore collection group. They immersed themselves in the boom of Chongqings enterprises of science, technology, and innovation and gained new experiences and knowledge of Chongqings advanced manufacturing.

At the International Logistics Hub in Inland China Exhibition Center, the representatives fully learned about the efforts of Chongqing building itself into a leader of opening-up in inland China and the latest development achievements of Chongqings port logistics and opening-up corridor through images and texts, simulation modeling, and digital simulation. They highly praised Chongqings development achievements and said that they would continue to show an interest in Chinas development and make Chinas voice heard in their unique ways.

In the Chuxin (Original Aspiration) Courtyard of the Huaxi Village, the representatives learned about the original aspiration and mission of the CPC members consistently seeking happiness for the Chinese people and national rejuvenation. They visited the Former Residence of Zhou Enlai, the Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum, and the Stilwell Museum to gain a deeper understanding of the Hongyan Spirit, Chongqings development history, and China-U.S. friendship in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. They also visited the Xituo Ancient Town and the Dazu Rock Carvings, exploring the historical legacy of ancient streets and the charm of world cultural heritage.

“Nihao, Chongqing! I will be here waiting for you!” As evening fell, the night sky over this mountain city glimmered with dazzling lights, creating a mesmerizing scene. The folklore-collection group climbed up to the Jiefangbei WFC Observation Deck, inviting the world through their cameras. Joshua Harry EVANS from the U.K. said that the scenery here is similar to that of the Tokyo Tower, but Chongqing offers a wider view, which is very worth a visit. “Chongqing is such a fascinating city! The people here are very warm, and I like this city,” MOLITVINA ZLATA said.

3月29日，2023“我眼中的中國(guó)——多彩民俗”短視頻大賽頒獎(jiǎng)儀式暨中外青年文化傳播者交流座談會(huì)在重慶市外事大樓舉行。市人大常委會(huì)副主任、市對(duì)外友協(xié)會(huì)長(zhǎng)趙世慶，全國(guó)對(duì)外友協(xié)副會(huì)長(zhǎng)李希奎，市政府外辦主任、市對(duì)外友協(xié)常務(wù)副會(huì)長(zhǎng)王雯，全國(guó)對(duì)外友協(xié)文化交流部副主任周建平，市政府外辦副主任、市對(duì)外友協(xié)副會(huì)長(zhǎng)兼秘書長(zhǎng)李明全等出席。

跨越文化差異 講好中國(guó)故事

在中外青年文化傳播者交流座談會(huì)上，來(lái)自俄羅斯、白俄羅斯、利比里亞、印度尼西亞、孟加拉等12個(gè)國(guó)家的14名獲獎(jiǎng)?wù)撸c全國(guó)對(duì)外友協(xié)及各地友協(xié)代表、專業(yè)媒體人士、短視頻大V代表、青年學(xué)生匯聚一堂，圍繞感知重慶和促進(jìn)中外文化交流兩大主題，交流分享經(jīng)驗(yàn)心得。他們結(jié)合自身作品，探討如何發(fā)掘民俗背后的人文故事、短視頻在推動(dòng)跨文化交流中的優(yōu)勢(shì)與前景以及如何跨越文化差異講好中國(guó)故事，讓世界更好地感知中國(guó)傳統(tǒng)文化魅力與當(dāng)代中國(guó)的活力，引發(fā)與會(huì)者的深度共鳴。

四川外國(guó)語(yǔ)大學(xué)吉爾吉斯斯坦籍留學(xué)生金淑賢說(shuō)：“很高興我拍攝的作品《我眼中的中國(guó)——酉陽(yáng)之約》獲得一等獎(jiǎng)，希望向世界展示酉陽(yáng)優(yōu)美的自然風(fēng)光、深厚的歷史文化底蘊(yùn)，和豐富多彩的民俗風(fēng)情。”吉林大學(xué)俄羅斯籍留學(xué)生米拉來(lái)中國(guó)學(xué)習(xí)已經(jīng)8年了，“我在中國(guó)的生活充滿了驚喜，古老與現(xiàn)代、南方與北方，太多的不同碰撞，讓我感受到了不一樣的風(fēng)土人情。”她說(shuō)。

“國(guó)之交在于民相親，人始終是文化交流互鑒的主體。”中國(guó)人民對(duì)外友好協(xié)會(huì)副會(huì)長(zhǎng)李希奎表示，重慶擁有悠久的歷史，猶如一顆閃耀的明珠，綻放著獨(dú)特的人文光芒。今年是中國(guó)人民對(duì)外友好協(xié)會(huì)建會(huì)70周年，我們將與重慶及全國(guó)其他地區(qū)，開展更多更緊密的民間友好交流活動(dòng)，進(jìn)一步發(fā)揮民間優(yōu)勢(shì)促進(jìn)文明互鑒，為推動(dòng)構(gòu)建人類命運(yùn)共同體貢獻(xiàn)力量。

領(lǐng)略山城魅力 向世界推介重慶

3月25日至28日，2023“我眼中的中國(guó)——多彩民俗”短視頻大賽的獲獎(jiǎng)?wù)咴谥貞c采風(fēng)，圍繞新質(zhì)生產(chǎn)力、西部陸海新通道、鄉(xiāng)村振興、紅色文化和世界文化遺產(chǎn)等主題，多角度領(lǐng)略重慶的獨(dú)特魅力與時(shí)代風(fēng)貌。

“機(jī)械臂伸縮旋轉(zhuǎn)，1000多臺(tái)機(jī)器人有序協(xié)作。在這里，沖壓完成一套汽車部件僅需5秒鐘。”在賽力斯鳳凰智慧工廠，“重慶智造”的創(chuàng)新能力讓采風(fēng)團(tuán)成員大開眼界，他們沉浸式體驗(yàn)重慶科技創(chuàng)新企業(yè)的蓬勃發(fā)展，對(duì)重慶的智能制造實(shí)力有了新的體驗(yàn)和認(rèn)識(shí)。

在重慶內(nèi)陸國(guó)際物流樞紐展示中心，采風(fēng)團(tuán)通過(guò)圖文、仿真模型、數(shù)字模擬等方式，全面了解重慶內(nèi)陸開放高地建設(shè)歷程，以及全市口岸物流、開放通道等建設(shè)發(fā)展最新成果。他們贊嘆重慶的發(fā)展成就，并表示將繼續(xù)關(guān)注中國(guó)，通過(guò)自己的方式向世界傳遞中國(guó)聲音。

采風(fēng)團(tuán)來(lái)到華溪村初心小院，體會(huì)中國(guó)共產(chǎn)黨人始終堅(jiān)守為中國(guó)人民謀幸福、為中華民族謀復(fù)興的初心與使命；參觀周公館、重慶中國(guó)三峽博物館和重慶史迪威博物館，領(lǐng)悟紅巖精神，追溯重慶歷史變遷，回望中美抗戰(zhàn)友誼；走訪西沱古鎮(zhèn)與大足石刻，品味古街遺韻與世界文化遺產(chǎn)魅力。

“重慶，你好，我在這里等你！”傍晚時(shí)分，山城的夜空燈火璀璨、美不勝收，采風(fēng)團(tuán)成員登上解放碑WFC觀景臺(tái)，對(duì)著鏡頭向世界發(fā)出邀請(qǐng)。來(lái)自英國(guó)的約書亞表示，這里與東京塔非常相似，但能看到更開闊的城市景觀，非常推薦。“重慶真是一座讓人著迷的城市！重慶人民很熱情，我很喜歡這里。”吉爾吉斯斯坦籍留學(xué)生金淑賢稱。
