Mr Guo is a teacher from Xi’an. He asked his students to hand in their homework through a QR code (二維碼). “We spent an hour or two in class learning how to generate (產(chǎn)生) the codes, and in the end everything gets easier,” said Guo. “When students finish the homework, they keep it on WeChat. Then, each student makes his own QR code and gives it to me. So I can check their work everywhere using my computer or phone.”
The QR codes can be sent to Mr Guo by email, QQ and WeChat. When Guo scans his students’ QR codes, their homework appears on his phone. He finds that their homework becomes more creative, with many pictures, music and even videos.
Guo’s students like the new way and think it is interesting. “We are living in the information age. Many students like to work with computers, which makes learning more fun,” said Tingting, a student of Guo’s.
“The paper is not easy to keep, but the code is easy to keep and share,” Guo said. “It is worth trying to use new technology in education. Education itself is a kind of creation. I don’t want my students to fall behind the times.”
However, some parents are worried. They are afraid that their children will spend too much time on computers and less time communicating with teachers. But in fact, it’s unnecessary. Students still need to look up information in books and write it down when they do their homework. They only use the code when they hand in their work, which doesn’t take them too much time. Also for teachers, it allows them to check the students’ work at any time. And it’s also an easy way to share homework with other students.

According to a recent study, the Middle East is warming almost twice as fast as the rest of the world. Without a doubt, high temperatures will have deep influences on the development of the area.
That shows the growing risk to humans caused by extreme weather. With more and more extreme weather events, we must find better techniques to make predictions about them.
AI is a powerful tool. It can deal with information and provide advice to help us better understand and make predictions about the weather. Traditional weather models use information from satellites (衛(wèi)星). But these models have their disadvantages: they are not very exact. They also fail to discover complex conditions of the air around the earth.
AI can overcome these disadvantages by using the technology of deep learning. It can learn from historical and real-time information and produce trustworthy predictions. AI can also deal with information from different places, such as satellite photos or online posts, to provide clearer pictures of the weather situation. A paper on the Pangu-Weather AI model has drawn a lot of attention. Pangu-Weather is the first AI prediction model that is more exact than traditional weather prediction methods. This model can increase the prediction speed by 10,000 times, making global weather prediction time drop to seconds.
In 2023, Typhoon Mawar appeared in the Pacific Ocean. According to the China Meteorological Administration, Pangu-Weather made exact predictions about the direction of Mawar five days before it changed its way in the eastern waters of the islands of Taiwan.
28. What can we learn about the Middle East?
"A. It has more extreme weather than the rest of the world.
B. It is getting warm faster than other places.
C. Its high temperature has little effect on its development.
D. Its traditional weather model is a peaceful tool.
29. How can AI overcome the disadvantages of traditional weather models?
A. By using information from satellites.
B. By using the technology of deep learning.
C. By only learning from real-time information.
D. By dealing with information from the same places.
30. What does the author want to show by mentioning Typhoon Mawar?
A. The risks of extreme weather.
B. The problems of extreme weather.
C. How exact Pangu-Weather’s predictions are.
D. How useless traditional weather models are.
31. What might be the best title of the text?
A. The Risks of Extreme Weather"""""" B. The Pangu-Weather AI Model
C. The Climate Change in the Middle East"""""" D. AI—A Powerful Tool of Weather Prediction

Desire (欲望). Desire is the strong wish to achieve a goal. __ 37 __ Before you can run with desire, your goal must be plain, clear, and it must also be exciting.

Fail. Unless you’re willing to have a try, fail unhappily, and have another try, success won’t happen. To have success you have to do things the right way, but often the only way to do something right is to first fail in it. As Thomas J. Watson said, “A simple formula(公式) for success is to double your rate of failure.” __ 39 __
