From April 10 to 15, the Forum on Creating World-Famous Brand Names for Chinese Enterprises through Olympic Marketing jointly sponsored by the CPAFFC and the Samaranch Foundation was held in Barcelona, Spain. Director General of the Cultural Exchange Department of the CPAFFC Chen Xiaoming as the head of a delegation attended the forum and paid visits to Barcelona and Madrid.
The year 2007 is the “Year of Spanish Culture” in China. Aiming at promoting nongovernmental exchanges and friendly relations between the two countries, and developing and popularizing the Olympic culture, the CPAFFC was invited to join sponsoring the Forum, while the Beijing Splash Events Communication and Advertising Co., Ltd. planned and carried it out. The Samaranch Foundation was established and presided over by Juan Antonio Samaranch, honorary life president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Ever since its establishment, the foundation has been focusing on the promotion of China’s sports development, the practice of Olympic concepts and the popularization of the Olympic spirit, and has conducted exchanges and cooperation to realize the Olympic ideals.
On April 10, J. A. Samaranch, president of the Samaranch Foundation, Wang Shixiong, Chinese consul general in Barcelona, Chen Xiaoming, head of the CPAFFC, Juan M. Tintore, president of the Barcelona Royal Tennis Club, Juan Dedeu, council member of the Samaranch Foundation, and Juan Lawrence, president of the SEAT Automobile Group, attended the opening ceremony of the Forum. Chen Xiaoming, Wang Shixiong and Samaranch delivered speeches.
At the forum, Chinese and Spanish entrepreneurs spoke about how to take the opportunity of the Olympic Games to show the world their companies’ products and culture and to expand their influence wider with the help of an efficient marketing mechanism so as to achieve win-win results through providing service to the sports events. Participating sports officials briefed about their experiences in commercial cooperation and operation. President of the SEAT Automobile Group J. Laurence and CEO of the Beqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd. Wang Jinyu had a discussion on advertising, promotion and marketing strategies of automobiles.
