超能·責任·愛情

我們常常希望自己擁有超能力，可以解決常人解決不了的問題。但正如《蜘蛛俠》里的經典臺詞所言：The more powerful the Spider Man is， the more responsibilities he should take. 能力越強的人，所要承擔的責任就越重。當你肩負重任之時，你是選擇超能還是選擇愛情？這三者的關系，一直是中外導演爭相辯證的“人生哲學”問題。而《全民超人》(Hancock)給了我們又一個詮釋。

超能與責任

許多經典電影中的超人都以凡人的身份掩飾自己，過著常人的生活。在有人需要拯救的危急時刻，他們才揭去凡人的面紗，穿上超人的斗篷，出現在災難的現場，常常還因為英雄救美，發生一段浪漫的愛情，最終得到一個“happy ending”。

然而，與這些超人不一樣的是，刀槍不入的超人Hancock從不掩飾自己的能力，他渾身上下找不出一絲救苦救難的英雄所具有的正氣，脾氣孤僻乖張，穿著嘻哈邋遢，整日酗酒昏睡。就連街邊的小男孩也看不慣他！

Little Boy: Hancock!

Hancock: What， boy?

Little Boy: Bad guys.

(小孩好心來提醒他有壞人在搗亂，可Hancock卻一副滿不在乎的樣子。)

Hancock: What do you want? A cookie? Get the hell out of my face.

Little Boy: Asshole!

Hancock: What?

Little Boy: You heard me.

雖然每當有人做出危害社會的事情，他都會以最快的速度趕去履行自己的責任，給壞人以最嚴厲的懲罰，但受到幫助的人們卻認為他是個“糙人”——因為他的每次出現總是給大家留下長串連環相撞的汽車、嚴重毀壞的公路、損失慘重的摩天大樓和“營救”壞人的任務；最讓人印象深刻的是，人們正在努力救助擱淺在海灘上的鯨魚時，Hancock飛速趕來，輕輕提起鯨魚隨手扔進大海，結果鯨魚不偏不倚砸在一艘帆船上，死了，和帆船一起在人們目瞪口呆中沉入海里，大家怒不可遏……沒有人崇拜他喜歡他，他救下的人毫不感激他，大家都希望他離開洛杉磯。我們可以來聽聽電視里人們對他的評論，就更能體會大家對他的厭惡至極。

(On TV)

A police: With all the cracks in the concrete street corners， the plane， the water damage， the fires， L.A. would be a lot better off if this guy would just leave and let us get on with our jobs. He's never asked us for a badge (預算). He's never worked with us in any capacity. What-so-ever， zero. I don't mind if he could just do it somewhere else. New York maybe! Let them handle with him for a while. This Hancock guy is surely on some kind of mission and he's using our city to beat himself up for reasons known only to hell...

直到有一天，他在鐵軌邊救下了公關經理Ray Embrey。Ray對他心懷感激，勸他改變自己的形象和做法。人們看到的都是那個無所不能的暴戾的Hancock，而Ray看到了Hancock有些血絲的眼中那深藏已久的孤獨。

Ray: I owe you more than I can say. You gave my life back today. Just hear me out for one second. I'd like to return the favor. Do you know what I do for a living? I'm in public relations. You know what that is? Of course you do. We're image consultants (形象顧問). We change the way people see products， companies， people and all that... and I see you on the news， and I see you out there today and it can't feel good that people， you know， hate you.

Hancock: It's ahh...good to meet you， Ray.

Ray: I'm sorry but， hear me out but people should love you. They really should， okay? Now I want to deliver that for you. That's the least I can do. You're a Superhero. Kids should be running up to you asking you for your autograph. People should be cheering you in the streets， you know?

(這時，Hancock向圍觀的孩子們大吼起來。)

Hancock: What the hell are you pricks (讓人討厭的人) looking at?

Ray: Uh， no， no， no， shhh...no， no， it's alright. No， no， they are not pricks. They're just the people. But， I just want you to give me just one short pitch. You know... that's all I ask， okay? You use... Put it under here? Ha...How about there? Email me， whatever. Fly on over. I don't know. I'll let you think about it. Ok? You just be careful， buddy. I'll let you sleep on it， alright? You'll get back to me? I'll be right here， alright? (向圍觀的人們說) Please don't stare， you guys. He's kind of one of us.

Ray的一番勸說打動了Hancock，他聽從了Ray的建議，承擔了多起損失的責任，自首入獄了。在他入獄閉關期間，Ray不斷利用探視時間來教Hancock怎樣與人打交道。Ray的妻子Mary也帶著孩子來探視他。看著Mary離去的背影，Hancock心里有著莫名的觸動，他在獄室的墻上畫滿了Mary帶著孩子離去的背影。

由于Hancock入獄，洛杉磯的犯罪率陡然上升，社會安定受到嚴重威脅。這時，人們終于開始想念Hancock，警長親自請Hancock出獄協助解決一起銀行搶劫事件。Hancock這次小心翼翼，不但救了所有人質，還將損害降到最低。人們對Hancock的評價變了，從“糙人”變成了“超人”，走到哪里都受到歡迎。這天，Hancock在與甜蜜幸福的Ray夫婦共進晚餐時道出了自己內心深處的困惑。

Ray: What about you， buddy? You're from another planet， aren't you?

Hancock: No， man， I'm from Miami.

Ray: You didn't come in on like a meteor or...?

Hancock: Nope， woke up in a hospital， first thing I remember...

Ray: Government hospital， yes? Experimenting on you and...

Hancock: No， Ray， regular old Miami emergency room.

Ray: Come on?

Hancock: Yeah， my skull was fractured. They told me I tried to stop a mugging (行兇搶劫)...

Ray: Somebody knocked you out?

Hancock: I guess I was a regular guy before and when I woke up I was changed. The hospital nurse tried to put a needle in my arm and...it just broke against my skin and then my skull healed in like an hour... Doctors were astounded. And...umm...they wanted to know my story. Just like you but， I couldn't tell them. I don't know who I am.

Mary: Amnesia (失憶癥). You know the blow to the head.

Hancock: Yeah， that's what they figured.

Ray: You don't remember anything?

Hancock: The only thing I had in my pocket was bubble gum and 2 movie tickets. Boris Karloff， Frankenstein(美國電影《科學怪人》，1931年上映). But no ID， nothing. I went to sign out and the...ah...nurse asked me for my John Hancock. So I actually thought that's who I was.

Ray: How come I didn't hear any of this， read about it in any newspapers?

Hancock: It was probably in the papers about 80 years ago.

Ray: 80 years ago?

Hancock: Oh... I don't... I don't age. This is it.

Ray: That's nice.

Hancock: Gotta wonder though...what kind of bastard (粗俗用語：自私的人) must I have been? That nobody was there to claim me? I mean I'm not the most charming guy in the world. So I've been told， but...nobody?

是啊，一個沒有身份證的人，一個只能把別人對自己的稱呼當作自己名字的人，在傷痛中醒來，竟然沒有親人或朋友來探望自己，一個也沒有。這種隔離感和孤獨感該是多么深刻！難怪Hancock迷惑地封閉了自己的心靈，像獨行俠一樣履行著自己超人的責任！

Tips for learning

John Hancock本是美國獨立戰爭時期的一個著名政治家，是第一位在《獨立宣言》上簽字的人。他的簽名漂亮瀟灑，且比別人的簽名都要大一些，所以后來人們就用他的名字“John Hancock”來表示“親筆簽名”的意思。

電影中其實護士是叫Hancock簽字，而剛從昏迷中醒來的Hancock卻誤認為自己就叫這個名字，于是，他從此就叫自己John Hancock了。

超能與愛情

然而，在與Ray夫婦的接觸中，Hancock發現Ray的美麗妻子Mary對自己有著一種特別的吸引力。每當看見她，Hancock的心中都有一種隱隱的觸動，那種似曾相識的感覺，撥動著記憶深處那根若有若無的琴弦。Hancock情不自禁想要表露自己的情感，卻遭遇了Mary異常激烈的拒絕——Mary將Hancock從屋里扔到了街道上，其間撞破了一堵墻！于是，Hancock發現Mary與自己一樣，也有著相同的超能，甚至更為強大。但Mary的強烈反應引起了Hancock懷疑——同為超人的她，為什么要如此掩飾自己的能力，為什么作為同類，卻對Hancock似有深仇大恨一般？在他的追問下，Mary只好說出了深藏心中幾十年的秘密。

Mary: Technically speaking， he's my husband.

Hancock: Hoooooly shit!

Ray: What?

Mary: We broke up decades ago， long before you were born. He just can't remember.

Ray: But you can， right? You knew? That's something you might want to bring up on our first date， Mary. I don't like to travel， I'm allergic (過敏的) to cats， and I'm immortal， okay? Those are like some of things you might want to give a little heads up on.

Mary: Whatever we are， we were built in two's， okay? We've drawn to each other. No matter how far I run， he's always there. He finds me. It's physics.

Ray: What are you saying? Are you saying that you two are fated to be together?

Mary: I've lived for a very long time， Ray. And the one thing I've learned is...fate doesn't decide everything. People get to choose.

Hancock: You chose to let me think I was here alone.

Mary: I didn't think you would miss what you didn't remember.

Ray: Great! Now what?

Mary: I didn't plan for this.

Hancock內心那莫名的孤獨和怒火終于找到了根源—— 一切都由幾十年前妻子Mary的離去而引起，這讓失憶的Hancock陷入了難以名狀的痛苦情緒中。于是，就算他出于本能地幫助人們，卻總是難以控制自己的情緒，給大家造成損失。

既然Hancock和Mary都是超人，有著同樣的超能，他們之間的愛情為什么不能繼續？Mary為什么要離開Hancock，不能和他有一個happy ending？“And the one thing I've learned...fate doesn't decide everything. People get to choose.”Mary的這句話真是讓人回味無窮：是什么原因，讓Mary必須做出反抗命運的抉擇？

愛情與責任

當喚起回憶后痛苦萬分的Hancock來到一家超市買酒時，發現有幾個劫匪正在搶劫這家超市，他挺身而出，像以前一樣用身體來阻擋劫匪射來的子彈，沒想到以前刀槍不入的Hancock卻被擊中，鮮血震驚了Hancock，也震驚了所有受過Hancock幫助的人們。

只有Mary知道事情的真相，因為這已經不是第一次了。她來到Hancock的病床前，跟Hancock講出了他受傷的原因，這也是Mary需要做出痛苦抉擇的原因。

Mary: You're becoming mortal. It's us...being close to each other. It has never happened this fast before. You have to leave. The further away you get from me， the better you're gonna feel. You'll start getting your powers back. And you'll be flying and breaking things， and saving people before you know it. It's like I said， we were built in pairs. And when we get...close to our opposites， we lose our power.

Hancock: Why?

Mary: So we can live human lives. Love， connect， grow old， die.

Hancock: What happened to us?

Mary: Summer of 4 BC， we were becoming mortal like now. They came after me with swords. You saved me. 1850， they set our house on fire. You pulled me out of the flames.

Hancock: 80 years ago， what happened then?

Mary: We were living in Miami. And a new movie was playing in town...

Hancock: Frankenstein.

Mary: And after we walked down Flagler Street and you took my hand and you held it so tight. They attacked us in an alley. They hit you so hard. There was so much blood. They wouldn't let me ride in the ambulance with you. And by the time I got to the hospital， you were awake. But you didn't know me. So I left. Every time we're together...they come after you through me. You're built to save people more than the rest of us. That's who you are. You are a hero. The insurance policy of the Gods， keeps one alive， you， to protect this world.

原來，這就是真相！如果兩個超人相戀后在一起，就都會失去超能力，變成普通人，過上平凡而幸福的家庭生活。而正是這樣，和他們倆一樣的超人們都已經去世了，現在只剩下Hancock和Mary。被Hancock懲罰的壞人往往會在他們倆生活在一起的時候找上門來復仇，在超人失去超能力的時候企圖殺害他們。Hancock和Mary一起生活的幾千年里，遇到了好多次這樣的險境。在80年前的這一次，Hancock失去了記憶，于是Mary痛苦地選擇了離開。愛情讓兩個超人難以抉擇，但責任和危險讓他們忍痛分手。為了讓Hancock更好地完成他作為“superhero”的使命，Mary則深深地隱藏了自己的超能。

超能意味著責任，愛情消耗著超能，那么肩負責任則意味著舍棄愛情！這就是Hancock的導演向我們詮釋的三者的辨證關系！在影片的最后，Hancock在高空中遠望著Mary和Ray幸福地生活在一起。這，也許就是對“孤膽英雄”形象最好的勾勒？
