Entering the drama room I am immediately surrounded by the familiar sights, smells and sounds. Streaks(條紋,線條) of light cast by the blinds of the tall __1__ send shafts(桿狀物) of light through the dusty air. I take a __2__ and the concrete and paint __3__ tickle my nose. I __4__ everything about this room.
Some of the __5__ times of my life have been spent here. It’s ironic(諷刺的), but the __6__ is the only place where I feel that I don’t have to __7__ to be someone I’m not. Like many teenagers, I almost __8__ think that people are judging me, but when I act, that feeling disappears. People only look at your __9__ ability, not your clothing, money, choice of friends, or any of the other ways people are usually __10__.
When I’m on stage, everything else vanishes(消失). All the worries and__11__ of the outside world are put on hold. Nervousness is still present, __12__ it’s the exciting and tingling kind, not the queasy(顧慮重重) __13__ of being different and alone.
I __14__ love to work backstage and on lighting. I __15__ you could find another girl who would work on a ladder __16__ her elbows in cables and dust and love every second of it. It makes me unique and gives me a sense of __17__ to know that I succeed in an area where __18__ others—and virtually(事實上) no girls—do.
High school is a difficult atmosphere, to put it __19__. Like others, I’m often insecure(無安全感的), not __20__ who I am or where I’m going in life. Wherever that may be, I will always have the confidence I get from theater.

I close my eyes and can still hear her—the little girl with a __1__ so strong and powerful we could hear her halfway down the block. I asked one of the translators about the girl. Elaina told me that she and hundreds of others like her throughout the __12__ Soviet Union add to their families’ income by working on the streets. When we walked past her I gave her money. It was not out of pity __17__ rather admiration. Her smile of __18__ did not interrupt her singing. The girl watched us as we walked down the street.
