拖著疲憊的身體回到家中總會迫不及待想跟家人朋友分享旅途中的點點滴滴。不管是開心的或是不愉快的經歷，你會發現講起來都是那么地起勁。也許這趟出游不符合你的期許，也許它讓你覺得筋疲力竭，但你還是會覺得不虛此行，至少你收獲了滿滿的回憶。

Taylor: Show me the photos from your trip. I’m dying to see them.

Jonas: OK. These are from the first leg of the tour.

Taylor: Wow， you both look so happy.

Miley: Yeah， wait until you see the photos from the end of the trip. ①There was one day in particular when Jonas was not a happy camper.

Taylor: ②Oh， do tell.

Jonas: Excuse me! I will tell this story. So， it’s almost the end of our tour and Miley decides she really wants to see this 1)gorge and nature park in the middle of nowhere. ③She gets me up at the crack of dawn and we take this bus for， like， three hours， and of course it is the

2)bumpiest bus ride you can possibly imagine.

Miley: Oh， it wasn’t that bad.

Jonas: I still have a 3)bruised head from hitting the roof.

Miley: Well， maybe it was a little bit bumpy…

Jonas: So， we finally get there and the place is 4)packed. Buses everywhere， tourists pouring in. We had to wait in line almost an hour just to enter the park. Then we get asked if we would like to take a car to the top of the mountain to view the gorge， or take a “leisurely” walk there. We thought， what the hell， it’s a nice day， let’s walk. Turns out that the “leisurely” walk was seven kilometers…uphill.

Taylor: Good for building up those leg muscles.

Miley: That’s exactly what I told him.

Jonas: ④To make things worse， she decided to be a professional photographer along the way. So she’s just snap-snap-snapping everything she sees. (5)Mimicking Miley) “Oh look， some grass! Oh look， a rock!” ⑤She was driving me up the wall.

Miley: But we got there in the end. And a lovely man helped us take a photo of the gorge. Here， this one.

Taylor: Yeah， that is beautiful. Worth the 6)trek， I’m sure.

Jonas: Well， in 7)hindsight， it wasn’t too bad. The scenery was amazing. My only advice would be to go there in the 8)off-season; when there aren’t tourists 9)swarming the place.

Taylor: But you made it back safely， and you have some great photos and stories to tell.

Miley: We are already planning our next trip.

Taylor: Oh， where are you going?

Jonas: Somewhere with lots of elevators.

泰勒:有這回事?

喬納斯:什么!讓我來告訴你這個故事。嗯，在我們的旅途快結束時，麥莉決定要到那個偏遠的峽谷自然公園去看看。她天還沒亮就把我拉起來，然后我們搭了，我看看，大概3個小時的公車才去到那里。那真是你能想象得到的最顛簸的路途了。

麥莉:唉，沒那么糟糕吧。

喬納斯:我頭上還有撞上車頂留下的瘀傷呢。

麥莉:好吧，或許的確有那么一點小顛簸……

喬納斯:然后，等到我們好不容易到達那里時，那里已經人山人海了。到處都是車，游人蜂擁而入，我們排隊等了一個小時才能進入公園。這時有人問我們想要乘車直上山頂去觀看峽谷呢，還是要選擇“悠閑的”徒步線路。我們當時想，管它呢，反正天氣不錯，就徒步上山吧。結果，那“悠閑的”徒步線路足有7千米長，還全是上坡路!

泰勒:倒是塑造大腿肌肉線條的好機會。

麥莉:我就是這么跟他說的。

喬納斯:更糟的是，一路上她是鐵了心要當個專業攝影師，這里拍拍，那里拍拍，把她眼睛所見的東西全拍了個遍。(模仿麥莉)“哦，快看，有草地呢!哦，有一塊石頭!”她都快把我逼瘋了。

麥莉:但我們最終還是抵達山頂啦，還有一個可愛的先生幫我們和峽谷拍了張合影。喏，這張。

泰勒:嗯，景色很漂亮。我敢說，長途跋涉還是值得的。

喬納斯:呃，事后想起來，那的確不算太糟。景致真的很美妙。我唯一的建議就是最好在旅游淡季時再去那里，那時就不會有游人蜂擁的情況發生了。

泰勒:但你們最終還是平安歸來啦，還拍了這些漂亮的照片，發生了這些故事呢。

Smart Sentences

① There was one day in particular when Jonas was not a happy camper. 尤其是某一天，喬納斯的心情相當不爽呢。

happy camper: a happy person， often used in the negative(快樂的人，通常用它的否定形式)。例如:

Maria hasn’t been a happy camper since she took this job.

瑪麗亞自從做了這份工作后就高興不起來了 。

② Oh， do tell. 有這回事?

do tell: used to express surprise about sth.(用以表達對某事的驚訝)。例如:

—Mark got a promotion.

馬克升職了。

—Do tell.

③ She gets me up at the crack of dawn. 她天還沒亮就把我拉起來。

at the crack of dawn: used to emphasize the time that is very early in the morning(一大早)。例如:

We need to get up at the crack of dawn in order to see

the sunrise.

為了看日出，我們要一大早就起來。

④ To make things worse， she decided to be a professional photographer along the way. 更糟的是，一路上她是鐵了心要當個專業攝影師。

make things worse: used to introduce sth. worse than the previously mentioned statement(用以引入比之前提到的更糟的情況)。例如:

This morning， I was late for my class. To make things worse， I forgot to bring my books.

我今天早上遲到了。更糟的是，我忘了帶書。

⑤ She was driving me up the wall. 她都快把我逼瘋了。

drive sb. up the wall: irritate and annoy sb. serverely(使某人非常惱火， 使某人受不了)。例如:

The noise outside was driving me up the wall last night.

昨晚外面的噪聲實在是讓我受不了。
