(本課選自義務教育課程標準實驗教科書仁愛版《英語》八年級上冊第4單元第一話題。)
●教材分析:
本單元的3個話題緊緊圍繞當今世界環境、科技和文化這三大主題展開。
第一部分是讓學生學習如何用英語描述和談論我們生存的自然環境,形容詞的比較級和最高級的運用是這一部分的重點語法項目。本話題主要通過談論和描述自然界的風光、動植物及生存資源——森林和水,引入本單元主要語法項目。如果抓住這個話題,設計一些豐富的教學活動,既可以綜合練習所學知識,還能培養學生合作精神及創新思維。
●教學目標:
1.知識目標:掌握形容詞比較級和最高級的變化規則及用法。用英語談論自然界中的動、植物,讓學生初步了解它們之間的關系。
2.能力目標:能使用一些簡單的英語語句描述和談論自然界動物和植物之間的關系。能聽懂簡單的故事,理解其中的主要人物和事件,能在教師的指導下參與角色表演等活動,能將所學語言組織起來,寫出簡短的文章。
3.情感目標:通過對自然界的認識,培養學生熱愛自然、保護環境的美好情感,同時提高學生的交際能力和與他人合作的能力。
●教學重難點:
1.教學重點:通過談論自然界中的動植物,學生能用英語與他人談論我們生存的自然環境,而且能熟練運用形容詞的比較級和最高級,能與學生就形容詞的級別這個話題交換信息,使學生具有積極參與課堂上各種英語實踐活動的興趣。
2.教學難點:用所學知識會話,寫出簡短的文章。
●教學設計:
Step1:Review
1.Listen to an English song Old MacDonald Had A Farm to warm up and lead to the new lesson.
2.After listening,the teacher says,“Do you know the name of the song?Yes,it’s Old MacDonald Had A Farm.It’s about animalsand farms.Can we find farms in the city or in the countryside?Which do you prefer,the countrysideor the city?”
(設計說明:通過適時合理的提問,引發學生的思考,激發學生的表達欲望,并通過合理想象來完成表述。)
Step2:Presentation
1.Lead to 1a.The teacher shows two pictures,one with beautiful scenery in the countryside and the other with polluted scenery in the city,and then speaks to students,“Today we’ll learn Topic1,Unit4.Look at these two pictures.I thinkmostof us prefer the countryside.Ithas fresher air,bluer sky,greener treesand clearer rivers.People can enjoy the beautiesofnature there.”
Write down the underlinedwordsand letstudents learn the new ones.Master“countryside”,“sky”,“clear”and“nature”. Uderstand the new word“beauty”.Then mark“fresher”,“bluer”,“greener”and“clearer”with colored chalk and let students observe them to getan initial perception of comparative degreeofadjectives.

2.Listen to1a,and answer the followingquestions.
(1)DoesWangWei like the life in the countryside?
(2)How doeshe think about the life in the countryside?
(設計說明:通過提出具體問題,鞏固上一部分的學習內容,并了解學生掌握知識的程度,同時培養學生自己組織語言的應變能力。)
Step3:Consolidation
1.Listen to 1a again,and then read after it.Imitate the pronunciation and intonation.
2.Letstudentsread 1aand do1baccording to1a.Finish1b.
Step4:Practice
1.Lead to 2a.The teacher shows a picture of a farm and says,“Wang Weigoes to his grandma’s farm every year.He takesmany picturesofanimalsand plants.Look at this picture! There aremany animals on the farm.Can you say their names in English?”The teacher leads students to answer and writes down the new words on the blackboard.Master“cow”,“horse”,“hen”,“sheep”,“goose”and“thin”.
2.Letstudents listen to 2a.Read after the tape and imitate the pronunciation and intonation.
3.Let students read 2a and pick out the sentences which have comparative and superlative degreesofadjectives.Forexample:
I’m the strongeston this farm.
The pig isstronger than you.
He is lazier thanme.
I’m smaller than you.
but I’m faster.
I’mmuch faster than you.
I’m thebiggestofall.
I’m a littlebigger than you.
Encourage students to sum up the changing rules of comparative and superlative degrees of adjectives and then the teachergives additionalexplanations.Ask students tomaster the expressions of comparative and superlative degrees of adjiectives.

4.Contestin groups.Lead studentsmake sentencesaccording to the picture in 2a,using theexpressionsofcomparativeand superlativedegreesofadjectivesasmuchaspoossible.
5.Group work.Complete the table in 2b first.Then letstudentswhoarewearing the decorativemasksofanimals role-play the conversation according to 2a,using comparative and superlative degreesofadjectivesasmuch as poossible.Finish 2b.

Step5:Project
Make a survey in groups.Find outhowmany students like the countrysideand howmany students like cities in your group. Lead students to compare the countryside with the city.Then each group choosesa representative tomakea report to the class.
Requirements:
1.Compare traffics,buildings,life facilities,education and soon.
2.Use comparative and superlative degrees ofadjectives as much aspossible.
(設計說明:讓學生結合生活經歷運用所學語言知識,把課堂的小天地與生活的大課堂結合起來。小組討論的形式能培養學生合作精神,并且培養學生的語言組織能力。)
