華盛頓國家櫻花節
春天是華盛頓的櫻花盛開的季節,也是華盛頓最美的季節。1912年,日本東京市贈送給美國6000棵櫻花樹,其中3000棵櫻花樹被種植在華盛頓。自1935年舉辦第一屆華盛頓國家櫻花節以來,一年一度的櫻花節吸引了無數游客前往游覽,暢游花的海洋。
Washington, D.C welcomes the arrival of spring with the National Cherry Blossom Festival, a tradition to show the beautiful gift of 3,000 cherry trees that the city of Tokyo gave to it. The National Cherry Blossom Festival is an annual two-week, city-wide event. During the National Cherry Blossom Festival, there are more than 200 international cultural performances and over 90 other special events. From arts and exhibits to food and sports, there is something for everyone to enjoy!
On March 27, 1912, the first lady Helen Herron Taft and Viscountess Chinda, wife of the Japanese ambassador(大使), panted the first two of these trees on the north bank of the Tidal Basin(潮汐湖)in west Potomac Park(西坡托馬克公園). The first festival was held in 1935, but stopped during World War II(第二次世界大戰)because of the war between the United States and Japan. The festival started again in 1947.
Today more than 700,000 people visit Washington each year to enjoy beautiful trees at the beginning of spring.

Bored with paints and pencils, artist Christian Faur turned to crayons to make pictures after seeing his young daughter using them. The artist said, “When I was young, crayons made my life colorful because I used them to draw pictures. Now I can use them to make different artworks, too. ”

Look at the picture. The sculptures are made of sticky tape. According to daily Mail, an art competition is being held in the UK and there are models from a TV screen to animals made of sticky tape. The winner will receive 3,100 pounds.

A life-sized model of a car made of world record amounts(數量)of Play-Doh (彩泥)has hit the road. Using 1.5 tons of Play-Doh and costing about 6,000 pounds in total, the car sculpture was made by a team of eight people over two weeks.
