Jili Village in Nanxun Town， Huzhou， a central city in northern Zhejiang， is famous for the pure silk in the color of white it produces At the first world expo in 1851， the silk product from the village won a gold medal Today， silkworm farmers at the vil-lage have produced color silkworms The high-tech silkworm eggs at the gene and molecule level are produced and supplied by scientists with Suzhou University
Although silkworm farming in Huzhou dates back to 4，700 years ago， Jili Village started silkworm farming toward the last years of the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) The latecomer， however， produces a high quality silk known for great color， purity， nice hand-touch feel， and strength Since the middle years of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644)， the silk from Jili was chosen for making emperors’ dragon robes With the gold medal in the London World Expo in 1851， the silk from Jili stands out as the best silk in the world
