旅游英語翻譯若干問題研究

旅游業是近年來最受關注的行業，旅游業具有涉外性的特點。為了更好地適應旅游業快速發展的形勢，有必要對旅游英語的翻譯予以關注。旅游英語翻譯與所有專業翻譯有共同點，也有自己的特點，諸如與文化歷史知識聯系緊密，直譯為主、意譯為輔等。同時旅游英語尤其是風景名勝、歷史古跡、歷史人物的翻譯要尊重真實場景，切莫隨意發揮等。只有準確地進行旅游英語翻譯，才能更好地為廣大中外游客服務。

旅游英語的翻譯應該是專業英語翻譯的一個分支，與土建英語、醫學英語、教育英語、體育英語、商務英語等專業英語的翻譯一樣，旅游英語的翻譯有專業英語的共性特點，如專業術語多，短句多等，但旅游英語的翻譯有其自身的特點［1］，如意譯比直譯多，需要更多的人文背景知識、對漢語言文字的要求更高，要體現景點、詩詞等旅游文化的美感。同時，在翻譯旅游英語時，還要具備跨文化的知識。

1 對風景名勝的翻譯

中國地域遼闊，自然景點眾多，自然和文化遺產數量居世界第二位。因此吸引了很多外國友人來參觀、游覽。中國的自然風光以名山、名水、園林、喀斯特地貌、火山巖地貌、濕地景觀為主，種類繁多，令人目不暇接。而自然風光的翻譯要符合景點的特色，能用直譯的采用直譯，不能直譯的要意譯。既不要完全直譯，也不要完全意譯，因為外國人對中國的文化和內涵不太了解［2］。翻譯時可采用一些方法，把需要的資料補充進去加以說明，以便外國游客能很好地理解它的意義和淵源，引起在情感、觀念及行為上的互動。這樣外國游客能更好地產生興趣，加深對自然景點的理解。我國的名山在翻譯時基本采用直譯，這樣效果較好，簡單明了，如:五岳 China's five great/sacred mountains、泰山 Mount Tai、嵩山Songshan Mountain、衡山 Hengshan Mountain、恒山 Hengshan Mountain、華山 Huashan Mountain、佛教四大名山Four famous Buddhist Mountains、五臺山 Wutai Mountain、普陀山 Mount Putuo、九華山 Jiuhua Mountain、峨眉山 Mount Emei、黃山Mount Huangshan或 Yellow Mountain、武當山 Wudang Mountain、嶗山LaoMountain等等，這些名山不僅在中國，在世界上也很出名，如泰山、黃山。直譯加音譯能使外國人更易理解，而且還能把名山的氣勢翻譯出來。還有一些風景名勝內部的景點也很有特點，我們的名勝內部的景點名稱都富有中國文化內涵，有詩意和想象力，凝聚著勞動人民智慧的結晶。如黃山天下奇秀，黃山里有很多美輪美奐的景點，其名稱翻譯過來也很有意思，例如:迎客松 Guest-Greeting Pine、半山寺Mid-Hill Temple、云谷寺 Cloudy Valley Temple、光明頂Bright Summit、天都峰 Heavenly Capital Peak、蓮花峰 Lotus Peak、奇松 strangely-shaped pines、怪石 grotesque rock formations、云海 seas of clouds、溫泉 hot springs，這種翻譯，馬上在外國人面前展示出一個個栩栩如生的黃山景觀。還有一種大篇幅的翻譯風景名勝，即用英語介紹該景區的位置、特點等內容，如下面關于廬山的介紹:The Lushan Mountain，located south of Jiujiang City，Jiangxi Province，is one of the most famous mountains in China．The mountain features beautiful peaks，seas of clouds，waterfalls and historical sites．Bailu Academy is one of Chinese first schools of higher learning．還有峨眉山的介紹:The Emei Mountain The Emei Mountain is one of China's four famous Buddhist Mountains．It is located 7 kilometers southwest of Emeishan City，Sichuan Province．There are 150 temples on the mountain．The mountain features more than 3 000 plant species and 2 000 varieties of animals．廬山和峨眉山都是以秀美著稱的，兩段介紹就是兩段說明文，采用的是直譯的方法，按照邏輯順序介紹了廬山和峨眉山的位置，廬山的特色是魅力的頂峰、云海、瀑布和歷史;峨眉山主要以寺廟多美名天下，大約150座寺廟，讓人一目了然。

2 對歷史古跡的翻譯

中國是世界四大文明古國之一，五千年的歷史留下了許多歷史文化古跡。對這些古跡的翻譯要尊重歷史，以直譯和增詞法為主，意譯為輔。如北京象征天安門廣場的翻譯:Tiananmen Square is unarguably on the top list．Lying in the heart of Beijing City，it is the place for massive parades and gathering．It boasts of the largest square of such kind in the world．This was the place when in 1949，from a rostrum on Tiananmen（the Gate of Heavenly Peace），Chairman Mao announced the establishment of the People's Republic of China．Tiananmen Square is circled by Tiananmen（Gate of Heaven Peace）on its north;the Great Hall of the People on its west;on the east of Tiananmen Square lies the National Museum of China，there are Monument to the People's Heroes and Chairman Mao's Mausoleum on the south．與風景名勝的翻譯不同的是，歷史古跡的翻譯要忠于歷史，不能隨意發揮，所以不能使用大量的意譯，最好采用平鋪直敘的翻譯方法。如上例中的天安門廣場側重介紹的是我們中華人民共和國成立的地方，這樣可以讓國人和老外一起感受那段激情澎湃的歷史。

以下是四川著名歷史遺跡樂山大佛的翻譯資料:Leshan Giant Buddha is located on the east bank of the Minjiang River in Leshan city，Sichuan Province．The Buddha is carved out of a cliff and，being 70．7 meters tall，is the largest sitting Buddha in China．Carving of the Buddha started in 713 and was completed in 803．The body of Buddha has a water drainage system to prevent erosion．通過幾組數字，一個活靈活現、氣勢磅礴的大佛展現在我們面前。

3 對歷史人物的翻譯

中國擁有悠久的歷史和古老的文化。在介紹文物古跡的時候，總會聯系到大量的歷史事件和朝代名稱。而外國旅游者對我國的歷史朝代并不熟悉，因此最好補充一個朝代的公元年份。例如:清朝康熙年間，可譯為during the reign of emperor kangxi（1661—1722）of the Qing Dynasty（1644—1911）。在翻譯外國旅游者不熟悉的歷史名人時，可以添加相關的背景資料，補充這個人的身份，在歷史上的地位和功績等。如參觀明孝陵時，對朱元璋可譯為:Zhuyuanzhang，the first emperor in Ming Dynasty，只有如此，翻譯才能使外國旅游者更深入地了解我國的歷史人物及朝代。

總之，旅游英語的翻譯是一個表面簡單，其實非常復雜的系統工程，需要譯者掌握漢語、英語、旅游、文化、地理、歷史、民俗等多方面的知識，唯有如此，才能更好地為廣大中外游客服務。

Tourism is an industry that has received the most attention in recent years，bearing foreign characteristics．In order to better respond to its rapid development，it is necessary to pay attention to tourism English translation．While sharing some features with other braches of translation，tourism English translation has its own features，such as its close connection with culture and history，literal translation-dominating with liberal translation supplementing．Meanwhile，tourism English translation，particularly the translation of places of interest，historical sites and figures，should respect the authentic situation and avoid casual translation．Only by correctly translating tourism English can it better serve the foreign and domestic tourists．
