English isa very important subject in education,but simultaneously it isvery difficult for students tomaster in the teaching process.W ith the coMing of the information age,the constant emergence ofmultimedia resources providesa great assistance for English teaching.In thispaper,the evaluation on the value of usingmultimediaassisted teaching resourcesin English teaching is introduced.

As the new curriculuMstandard was launched in China,there are certain changes to occur in both teaching forMand teaching content. Thus,studentswill inevitably not adapt to the situation in the process of acquiring knowledge.Especially in the process of English teaching, the advancedmultimedia resourcesat the presentstageare actively applied by some teachers in order to improve the level of English teaching,so that a great role has been exerted in the process of concrete teaching.Therefore,it is a teaching method necessary to be actively app lied in the teaching.

1.StiMula ting the Interest of Students in Actively Pa rticipating in Lea rning

One of themarked characteristics ofmultimedia resources is the man-machine exchange.Multimedia resources promote the function of integrating TV’s audio-visual effect to be effectively played,and also combineswith the interaction function of computer so that a colorful, illustrated man-machine exchange way is created.Meanwhile,the feedback to information can be done immediately.In this situation,the students aremost likely to be verymuch interested in English knowledge for theirown needs and pleasure in the learning processand then geteffectively involved in the learning.

The significant alteration froMtraditional teaching is to place high emphasis on the students’interests of English learning under the assistanceofmulti-media.When studentsare presented a very beautiful song,for instance,they most probably forMa strong desire consciously to learn the song.The learning of the lyrics are one of the necessity,students then acquire the words and fine expressionswritten in the lyrics.In this way,students are prone tomaintain a positively high interest in the processof learning English.With theoriginal images,animation,interesting topics,and over-changing screen forms,students'interest in learning English will be stimulated to a large extent, so that they are driven to grow a strong desire to learn English,and then themotivation to learn isbuiltup.

2.Helping Create a Good Language Environment and Arousing Students'Autonomous Initiative to Learn

English,as a language,sources froMlife and also is an important way used by people to communicate in life.English learning is closely connected with the language environment,and a necessary factor to communicate in English is the language environment.In order to arouse students'thinking and initiative in learning,a specific situation mustbe provided for the students.Thus,agood English languageenvironment arousing students to learn and practice Englishmustbe created by teachers in the process of teaching,so that the habit of students to think and communicate in English willbe virtually fostered.

In the process of cultivating the ability of students,however,it seems impossible to complete the task by simply relying on the explanation froMteachers.In comparison,the realization of this goal is greatly promoted after the multimedia resources are applied by the teachers.This is because the production and progress of the previous, current,and future situations,characters,and events can be vividly displayed by teachersusing themultimedia technology.A real life situation can be simulated usingmultimedia and also the teaching content can be linked with the real life,making English know ledge effectively connected with the real life and also students fully filled with interests in the process of learning English.Thus,students can get immersive tofeel the life-oriented English.In the process of English teaching,the real scenes such as get-together,shopping,travel,and dating can be created by the teachers using themultimedia technology,and therefore,students are promoted to learn in the situation created by the teachersand take initiative to participate in languagepractice.

3.Effective ly IMproving the E fficiency of Eng lish Teaching C lassrooMw ith the Aid of Multimedia Resources

Fast-pace and high-density are represented by the efficient, high-quality classrooMteaching efficiency.A wide scope of knowledge in English mastered by students refers to high-density.During the design ofmultimedia courseware,the teaching process is accelerated,teaching programs are alternated,and exercises are transformed tightly.This is the so-called fast-pace.Accordingly,an English teachermust display the fast-pace,large capacity,andmulti-change characteristics of English in the classrooMteaching.In order tomake a breakthrough in the teaching,such a goal can be achieved only if the multimedia resourcesareeffectively integrated into the teaching.

With multimedia teaching,texts,pictures,and sounds can be combined effectively,making the abstract and profound knowledge in English visualized and simplified.In English classes,the synergetic function of students'various senses can bemobilized by applying the multimedia technology,so the complexity of knowledge can be effectively decomposed by students,the intention and key points of teaching can beunderstood.Forexample,the pre-mademultimedia courseware isused by teachersbefore it is foraiding the teaching:the knowledge points are visually displayed to students in the forMof pictures through projectorand screen.In addition,the knowledge pointsareexplained in a planned way when the courseware is being played:students are helped to make a breakthrough on the key and difficult points of teaching by dynamically integrating soundswith pictures,so as provide theMwith an enhancement to students’comprehension, memory,and language perception ability.In thisway,more knowledge can be better digested by students,and also the amountof knowledge is expanded on the basis of the solution to the time problem,making the teachingefficiency effectively increased in English classroom.

4.IMproving the Self-quality of English Teachers by App lying Mu ltimedia Resources

The big explosion of information is themain characteristic of the modern society along with the emergence of new knowledge.For this reason,English teachers should learn to actively adjust themselves to the development of themodern society.The know ledge reserve of Eng-lish teachersmust be continuously expanded and updated in order to keep up with the pace of the times development.Also,new contents mustbe often expanded for English teaching,in which the characteristics of the times can be effectively reflected.Themultimedia information resources have played a huge role when new knowledge is obtained and updated by teachers.Multimedia resources can help teachersmakemore effective use ofmultimedia network resources for collectingmuchmore fresh teachingmaterials,so that their self-improvement can be achieved and also the self-quality can be increased.By the reasonableapplication ofmultimedia technology,thematerials collected by teachers usingmultimedia technology can be integrated and optimized according to the specific situation of the students,and also will continuously be improved in the specific teaching process.Meanwhile,the specific needs of studentsmustbe completely fulfilled,and the teaching method combining pictures with texts must be used. Then,the real,effective teaching can be implemented and the function of teaching students in accordanceof theiraptitude isplayed.

5.Conc lusion

As the new curriculuMstandard was issued in China,a requirement has been raised for the update of the present English teaching, the traditional"cramming"teaching method must be changed by teachers in the process of teaching,aiMing to improve the current teaching strategiesand teaching level.With the emergence ofmultimedia resources,a great help is provided for English teaching,and English can bemore vividly taughtby teachers by combining pictureswith texts in the process of teaching,so that students can be personally on the scene of English learning process.The interest and subjective initiative of students in learning English can be simulated to an extreme degree.Thus,it is a teachingmethod necessary for related teachers to app ly in the processof teaching.
