1.O.Henry(1862-1910)

O.Henry is the pseudonym(筆名)ofWilliam Sydney Porter,American writer of short stories,best known for his ironic(諷刺的)plot twists and surprise endings.Born and raised in Greensboro,North Carolina,O.Henry did not write professionally until he reached hismid-30s.Released from prison,O.Henrymoved to New York City in 1901 and began writing full time.In his stories he made full use of his knowledge of Texas,Central America,and life in prison.

He also became fascinated by New York street life, which provided a setting formany ofhis later stories.During the last ten years of his life,O.Henry becameone of themost popularwriters in America,publishing over500 shortstories.

Hismost famousstories,such as TheGiftofMag i《麥琪的禮物》,The Furnished Room《帶家具出租的房間》,The Cop and the Anthem《警察與贊美詩》and The Ransom of Red Chief《紅酋長的贖金》make simple yeteffectiveuse of paradoxical(荒謬的,矛盾的)coincidences(巧合)to produce ironic endings.

五、反思

1.緣起

怎樣把學科核心素養,如思維品質的形成,積極價值觀的培養在英語課堂上實現,著實是個挑戰,但是大勢所趨。我喜歡挑戰,而且傳統英語課堂總是集中在語言知識的學習上,忽視成片思維的培養,語言學習呈斷裂狀態。故,我想借著這次選材的特殊性(不是來自高中課本,而來自大學三年級綜合教程,而且是中學領域未曾觸及的類型:著名小說家的作品,絕對的經典閱讀),做大膽的嘗試,觸碰更多關于人性的問題,如怎樣獲得真正的友誼,怎樣才能做先付出的那個人,受到傷害也無妨,究竟怎樣堅固信心又不失喜悅地付出……我們的學生需要這樣的人生智慧來引導自己自在地學習、生活、與人交往。

我認為經典英語閱讀有兩個目的:通過閱讀,學會欣賞文學作品,感受人性的百態;所學內容對現實生活的指導意義,如幫助形成積極的價值觀,使學生擁有滿滿的正能量。

2.實踐反饋

預設部分很順利,生成部分很精彩,學生給了我無數個驚喜!圓滿完成最接地氣的生活教育,學生得出結論:①愛出者愛返,把目光放得遠些再遠些……②出自本能地救人更了不起;③充實過好每一天,不留遺憾,從現在開始。

3.真正的收獲

若到處是掌聲一片,我容易失落,因為我深知沒有絕對的完美,若不能聽到改進的意見,才是真正的遺憾;所幸,我是一個幸運兒,聽到了專家的建議:既然是經典閱讀,可以再做更深入的探討。我深深感恩,更進一步確定了前進的方向。
