The Exploration on Current Situation of Education in China

Abstract:With the formation and development of the socialist market economy system,Chinese students world outlooks,outlooks on life and values has been influenced deeply.Since ideal education is the core of the ideological and theoretical education,it is a very necessary and urgent task for theoretical workers to strengthen and improve the ideal education,especially that of the colleges and universities.Therefore,how to improve the students creativity and potential,enhance the ideal education in China has been an actual problem acquiring urgent solutions.

Key words:ideal educaton;traditional teaching modes;creativity and potential.

The American educator Horace Mann once said:“As an apple is not in any proper sense an apple until it is ripe,so a human being is not in any proper sense a human being until he is educated.” Education is the process through which people endeavor to pass along to their children their hard-won wisdom and their aspirations for a better world.Parents will try their best to teach the child the attitudes,values,skills,and knowledge that may influence the child themselves throughout later life.While schooling put more emphasis on experiences,which are deliberately planned and utilized,to help the young learn what adults consider important for them to know and to help teach them how they should respond to make choices.

Education is a large and complex system which consists three elements:teachers,students and education theories.Today in China,with the rising standards of education,some defects of education has been revealed.First,education of China is too formalistic to focus on the students practical abilities and interests on their studies.Instead,schools just attach more importance to the students scores of test papers rather than the students potential and creativity.A students scores represent almost all of his or her ablities and personalities.Second,there is only one yardstick to measure ones capacity —— the diploma.To go with the current,students are busy in preparing for the postgraduate examinations.Or if the family conditions permit,the parents will afford costs that let their children study abroad,which normally leads those undergraduates have great goals but puny abilities.Third,many parents who live in the rural areas cant afford the high costs of education for their children,which forces them quit school though they get high scores.

Thus,regarding to such results of Chinese education,the reform of building an ideal education should concentrate on the following aspects.First,bring the student as the main body into full play.Traditional teaching modes should be changed,ideal classroom teaching should be centered on students,focus on solving problems and take variant practice as its main methods so as to enhance students innovative consciousness and abilities.Second,improve the capality of the teachers.A good teacher should treat the students kindly and give them advice in various fields for a teachers role is not only to improve the imagination and creativity of the students,but also to guide them the right way of treating the world.Third,pay attention to the education procedures.The country should refresh the view of the traditional values of human resources and abandon the concept of scores being the most important.The school should hold the procedures of teaching and learning in great account and try to improve the integrated ability of students.Thus,the ideal education will focus more on humans self-development and improvement.Education is no longer a heavy burden,but a great pleasure to the human beings.The content of education is no longer boring and dull,but modern and active in forms and styles,reflecting the latest scientific and technological development of knowledge.The goal of education is not only acquiring different amounts of knowledge,but also can adapt to the changing society.At that time,education will make every persons personality and potential fully developed.

Some people criticize the education system in China is an examination-oriented system,and the unfairness is still existing.However,the advantages of this form of system can also be seen,for example,the students in China have the solid foundation of knowledge.In the meantime,we cant deny the fact that the students innovation ability is inferior to many students in other countries.To solve this kind of unfairness,more perfect educational policies and financial investment from government are needed.

In conclusion,we should find the defects of the education,face the problems happened in the past years,and look for the ways to solve the problems,and finally,make the ideal education be a reality one day.
