A View from China on the Future of Innovation and Education

Many years ago, I sat in a classroom at Tsinghua University,staring at Euler’s formula2歐拉公式：在任何一個(gè)規(guī)則球面地圖上，R記區(qū)域個(gè)數(shù)，V記頂點(diǎn)個(gè)數(shù)，E記邊界個(gè)數(shù)，則R+V-E=2。歐拉定理于1640年由勒內(nèi)·笛卡爾（Rene Descartes）首先給出證明，后來(lái)倫哈德·歐拉（Leonhard Euler）于1752年又獨(dú)立地給出證明。on the blackboard and marveling at its mathematical beauty. [2] Today, I came across this formula once again, after years of engagement in promoting innovation in technology,industry and culture. I now understand

多年前，我坐在清華大學(xué)的教室里，盯著黑板上的歐拉公式，為其數(shù)學(xué)之美而驚嘆不已。該公式把數(shù)學(xué)中最著名的幾個(gè)常數(shù)（π、0、歐拉數(shù)e以及虛數(shù)i）關(guān)聯(lián)在同一個(gè)方程式中，說(shuō)它美，就在于它能創(chuàng)造出無(wú)限可能的函數(shù)和指數(shù)。

[2]如今，在從事技術(shù)、產(chǎn)業(yè)和文化的創(chuàng)新推動(dòng)工作多年以后，我再次與這樣一個(gè)公式相遇。現(xiàn)在，我明白了歐拉the parallel between Euler’s formula and human life; just as bringing mathematics’important constants together can create endless possible functions and exponents,uniting humanity’s most promising gifts can create boundless potential for human progress.

[3] We have been blessed with nature’s resources and a strong innovative spirit; these things have enabled all of our scientific, technological and social progress, leading us to a tomorrow of infinite possibilities. In tangible form,this can be seen in our high-speed railways, our colossal cruise ships, our instantaneous communication systems and our arti fi cial intelligence.

[4] Leonhard Euler lived in the midst of Europe’s Enlightenment, at which point the gifts of the Renaissance and the scienti fi c revolution had begun to introduce to human history a tide of modernization that eventually made way for the industrial revolution.

[5] The beginning of the 16th century birthed many important scientists, philosophers, and inventors. From the age of discovery through to the information age, human development and scienti fi c innovation have merged together to form the thriving glory that is modern life.

[6] While mathematics is the universal language of communication, it is innovation and the human spirit which provide公式與人類(lèi)生活的相似之處。正如把數(shù)學(xué)中幾個(gè)重要的常數(shù)放在一起就能創(chuàng)造出無(wú)窮可能的函數(shù)和指數(shù)一樣，讓人類(lèi)最具前途的天賦結(jié)合起來(lái)，同樣能為人類(lèi)進(jìn)步創(chuàng)造出無(wú)盡潛能。

[3]大自然賜予我們的資源和我們與生俱來(lái)的強(qiáng)大創(chuàng)新精神，使得我們?nèi)康目茖W(xué)、技術(shù)和社會(huì)進(jìn)步成為可能，引領(lǐng)我們走向無(wú)限可能的明天。成就實(shí)實(shí)在在，體現(xiàn)為我們的高速鐵路、我們的大型游輪、我們的即時(shí)通信系統(tǒng)，以及我們的人工智能。

[4]倫哈德·歐拉生活在歐洲啟蒙運(yùn)動(dòng)時(shí)期，當(dāng)時(shí)文藝復(fù)興和科技革命已經(jīng)開(kāi)始將一股現(xiàn)代化潮流引入人類(lèi)歷史，這一潮流最終開(kāi)啟了工業(yè)革命。

[5] 16世紀(jì)初期誕生了多位舉足輕重的科學(xué)家、哲學(xué)家和發(fā)明家。從大發(fā)現(xiàn)時(shí)代到信息時(shí)代，人類(lèi)發(fā)展和科技創(chuàng)新已融為一體，成就了繁榮、美好的現(xiàn)代生活。

[6]數(shù)學(xué)是人類(lèi)交流的通用語(yǔ)言，而為人類(lèi)提供可持續(xù)、包容性發(fā)展之路的是創(chuàng)新和人文精神。the path to sustainable and inclusive human development.

[7] Currently, the developmental state of different cultures, nationalities, and regions remains unbalanced. We need both scienti fi c innovation and human spirit to give more people access to modern technology.

[8] In this way, diverse cultures can communicate and develop better relations, resulting in a more stabilized society, increased protection of vulnerable groups, improved environmental conservation, and the potential for more sustainable development in underdeveloped nations and regions.

[9] Innovation is at the heart of creating value—and there are three important factors that encourage innovation.Firstly, the creation of science parks,industrial parks, innovation communities and incubators5incubator指一個(gè)集中的空間，能夠在企業(yè)創(chuàng)辦初期舉步維艱時(shí)，提供資金、管理等多種便利，旨在對(duì)高新技術(shù)成果、科技型企業(yè)和創(chuàng)業(yè)企業(yè)進(jìn)行孵化，以推動(dòng)合作和交流，使企業(yè)“做大”。creates platforms for entrepreneurs to connect meaningfully with innovation resources. Secondly,sufficient financial resources, including venture capital funds and parent funds,prop up innovation. Lastly, developing vast networks through international cooperation facilitates innovation among enterprises worldwide.

[10] Technological innovation leads us towards a better life. We gather together

[7]當(dāng)下，不同文化、不同民族、不同地區(qū)的發(fā)展仍不平衡。我們需要科技創(chuàng)新和人文精神，讓更多的人接觸到現(xiàn)代技術(shù)。

[8]這樣，不同文化之間就可以相互交流、改善關(guān)系，社會(huì)就會(huì)更加穩(wěn)定，弱勢(shì)群體就會(huì)受到更好保護(hù)，環(huán)保工作就會(huì)取得進(jìn)展，不發(fā)達(dá)國(guó)家和地區(qū)也將形成更可持續(xù)的發(fā)展?jié)摿Α?/p>

[9]創(chuàng)新是創(chuàng)造價(jià)值的核心要義。推進(jìn)創(chuàng)新有三個(gè)要素：首先，要建立科技園區(qū)、產(chǎn)業(yè)園區(qū)、創(chuàng)新社區(qū)和孵化器，為企業(yè)家與創(chuàng)新資源有效對(duì)接搭建平臺(tái)；其次，要確保充足的財(cái)力，包括風(fēng)險(xiǎn)投資基金和母基金，來(lái)為創(chuàng)新提供支持；最后，通過(guò)國(guó)際合作建立龐大的網(wǎng)絡(luò)，促進(jìn)全球范圍內(nèi)企業(yè)的創(chuàng)新。

[10]科技創(chuàng)新引領(lǐng)我們邁向更加美好的生活。我們能夠because technology is making the world smaller and more accessible. The mass application of information technology gives people in less-developed areas access to the internet, connecting them to the outside world, sharing the convenience of the new digital age.

[11] Advances in technology improve our health and thus offer us a better life.Innovative biochip-related products and clinical applications have succeeded in addressing human health needs, such as hereditary hearing loss, Down’s syndrome and thalassemia.

[12] Viewed in economic terms, innovation can of course create unicorn companies (start-ups valued at more than US$1 billion); but more importantly it builds subsidiary sectors within the advanced technology innovation industry.

[13] These sectors have delivered state-of-the-art public safety and security technologies as well as emergency management solutions to national-scale disaster relief, urban public safety, hazardous chemical safety and risk-detection methods. An advanced security inspection solution has been created, as well as products that serve the needs of civil aviation, customs, railways, highways,and national conferences. The purpose is to enhance safety for the people.

[14] Human spirit, meanwhile, is the key to promoting inclusive growth.To offer a better education to as many聚集一堂，就是因?yàn)榭萍颊谧屖澜缱兊酶　⒏捉咏Ｓ捎谛畔⒓夹g(shù)的大量應(yīng)用，欠發(fā)達(dá)地區(qū)的人們用上了互聯(lián)網(wǎng)，實(shí)現(xiàn)了與外面世界的聯(lián)通，享受到了新數(shù)字時(shí)代的便捷。

[11]科技進(jìn)步提升了我們的健康水平，讓我們的生活更加美好。新型生物芯片產(chǎn)品和臨床應(yīng)用，已經(jīng)能夠成功應(yīng)對(duì)遺傳性聽(tīng)力缺失、唐氏綜合征、地中海貧血等人類(lèi)健康問(wèn)題。

[12]從經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)角度來(lái)看，創(chuàng)新當(dāng)然能打造“獨(dú)角獸公司”（估值超過(guò)10億美元的初創(chuàng)公司），但更重要的是，它在先進(jìn)的科技創(chuàng)新產(chǎn)業(yè)內(nèi)催生了一些附屬行業(yè)。

[13]這些行業(yè)為國(guó)家減災(zāi)、城市公共安全、危險(xiǎn)化學(xué)品安全和風(fēng)險(xiǎn)檢測(cè)方法提供了最先進(jìn)的公共安全技術(shù)和應(yīng)急管理方案；還建立起一套先進(jìn)的安檢方案，并推出了能滿足民航、海關(guān)、鐵路、公路和全國(guó)性會(huì)議需求的產(chǎn)品。這一切的目的就是要增強(qiáng)人們的安全感。

[14]人文精神則是推動(dòng)包容性增長(zhǎng)的關(guān)鍵。為盡可能多的人提供更好的教育一直是一people as possible has always been a major challenge.

[15] Human spirit is no doubt everywhere in life, from the buildings in which we live and work to our preferred holiday destinations. Human settlement science perfectly interprets how we apply science, arts and humanity to a holistic approach aimed at creating a better life.

[16] Due to the advanced technology and knowledge we acquire in virtual and augmented reality, the restoration of historical heritage through digitalization now is a dream coming true.

Aeroservoelasticity mainly investigatesthe stability and response characteristics of aircrafts under control.An aeroservoelastic system often consists of four parts as shown in Fig.3.According to the system model,the relation between the input and output can be expressed as

[17] Urbanization and architecture with the core sense of human spirit have led us to be able to build parks over old wastewater treatment sites, to rebuild historical communities bursting with vitality, and to upgrade traditional industries with new technologies and new ideas.

[18] We strongly believe that our future prosperity will be and must be inclusive, shared by all nationalities and cultures. The common values of humanity teach us to embrace differences, and differences give birth to innovation.

[19] If we take life as Euler’s “e”, and innovation and human spirit as imaginary number “i,” it is certain that we will continue to create new chapters for history.

Life is limited; innovation is in fi nite.■個(gè)不小的挑戰(zhàn)。

[15]無(wú)疑，人文精神體現(xiàn)在生活的方方面面，從我們居住和工作的建筑到我們首選的度假勝地，莫不如此。人居科學(xué)完美地詮釋了我們?nèi)绾螌⒖茖W(xué)、藝術(shù)和人文知識(shí)運(yùn)用于旨在創(chuàng)造更好生活的綜合方案中。

[16]由于我們?cè)谔摂M現(xiàn)實(shí)和增強(qiáng)現(xiàn)實(shí)方面掌握了先進(jìn)的技術(shù)和知識(shí)，用數(shù)字化手段修復(fù)歷史遺產(chǎn)現(xiàn)在已夢(mèng)想成真。

[17]以人文精神為核心理念的城市化和建筑模式，使我們能夠在老舊的污水處理場(chǎng)地上建起公園，能夠重建充滿活力的歷史社區(qū)，能夠用新技術(shù)和新思維提升傳統(tǒng)產(chǎn)業(yè)。

[18]我們堅(jiān)信，未來(lái)的繁榮將會(huì)是、也一定是兼容并包、為各民族文化所共享的。人類(lèi)的共同價(jià)值觀教我們?nèi)ソ蛹{不同，而不同又催生了創(chuàng)新。

[19]如果我們把生命看作歐拉數(shù)e，把創(chuàng)新和人文精神視為虛數(shù)i，那么，我們一定會(huì)不斷創(chuàng)造出新的歷史篇章。
