“地下變色龍”：簾幕汽車旅館

簾幕汽車旅館是最獨特的地下雜交體。它的形態旨在滿足城市人對自我的解放。這個旅館建筑核心有個中庭，在中庭與外部則是通過一個狹窄的隧道連接，而這個開口讓秘密的伴侶可以坐在他們的汽車中隱秘地進入建筑內部。建筑本身建在一個露天的停車場上，兩旁都是以簾幕遮蔽的停車位，而這些停車位上方則有直達樓梯與“愛巢”相連。露天停車場也有單獨的出口，使這些愛侶們可以在避免被窺伺的情況下離開此地。

除了為大眾介紹曼谷諸多不為人知的歷史背景之外，簾幕汽車旅館同樣展現了另一種巧妙應對熱帶城市生活的雜交體。建筑物的中庭空間通過堆疊效應維持通風，從隧道吸入空氣，并讓它們通過庭院上方的開口向上、向外吹出。連通街道和建筑物中庭的隧道也可以作為一種濾網，讓低污染的空氣進入庭院，調和庭院的熱度和濕度，同時不受灰塵和街道噪音過多的影響。這種對轉換噪音污染以及含有CO和塵埃的自然空氣的處理，對于在熱帶城市的生存至關重要。□

The curtain sex motel is one of the most unique Underground Hybrids. It is a typology created to satisfy one of the city's naughty secrets. It is a simple concrete courtyard building with a blank street-facing fa?ade punctured by a lone tunnel.The opening allows secret romantic partners to enter the building discreetly in the privacy of their cars. They emerge onto an open-air auto court,lined with curtained parking spots, which in turn are connected to private "love" chambers. A secret courtyard exit also allows the lovers to escape onto a side alley unnoticed to their car.

Aside from providing historical background for one of Bangkok's many shady secrets, the curtain sex motel also demonstrates a wonderful hybrid response to tropical city living. The courtyard space at the centre of the building is continually ventilated through stack effect, drawing in air from the street tunnel, up and out through the court opening above. The tunnel that connects the street to the building's courtyard also acts as a sieve that allows semi-tainted air to enter the court, just enough to chase away the heat and humidity in the court, but not too much that dust and street noise overpower the space. It is this careful negotiation of noise pollution and natural air tainted with carbon monoxide and dust that is crucial in surviving in the tropical city.□
