◆Abstract:Careful analysis is essential for an effective class.A teaching plan is only an ideal class designed by the teacher,and the real class is more complicated.After a lesson,its more important for the teacher to self-evaluate and improve the lesson plan.

1 Introduction

This unit mainly presents an impressive image of Nelson Mandela with his fighting for the freedom of the black.This class aims to let students use the new learning and consolidate what they have learnt.

2 Analysis of a Lesson

2.1 Analysis of the Students

The analysis follows four aspects: the learning situation,students learning style,psychological perspective and prior knowledge.

First,60 students are from Class 2,Senior 1 in Aerospace Senior High School.The class setting is convenient for pair work and group work.The teaching aids include blackboard,chalk,and PPT.Second,the students like learning by doing rather than by mechanical remembering.Lightbown,M.and Spada,N.(1993) argue that learning is situated as it normally occurs,and embedded within activity,context and culture.Third,it is important to transmit them to senior students.The teacher needs to be patient and careful,and keep a close contact with their parents.Fourth,the students reached level five according to National English Curriculum before entering senior one.

2.2 Analysis of Teaching Material

Oxford,R.L.(1990) points that students get and process information in different ways.Blackboard is used to present the difficult and focal points.Pictures are used to arouse students interest.PPT is an effective way to present examples and tasks.

2.3 Analysis of Teaching Methods

In this design,there are TBLT (Task-based Language Teaching),Audio-visual Method and Communicative Approach.

First,TBLT is widely promoted in English language teaching nowadays.A piece of classroom work which involves learners in comprehending,manipulating,producing or interacting in the target language while their attention is principally focused on meaning rather than form (Nunan,1999).Second,Audio-visual Method was a method that France used at that time to carry on the short-term intensive teaching to the foreign students (Goldenberg,C.,& Patthey-Chavez,G.,1995).Third,Communicative Teaching Approach holds that the language teaching materials should not present too much artificial grading of language (Wang Lifei,2000).

2.4 Analysis of Learning Methods

The most important process is how to learn.There are Cooperative Learning,Inquiry Learning and Memorial Learning in this design.

First,Cooperative learning can be applied to any classroom learning situation.Second,involving is the core statement of Inquiry Learning.Science education is not merely to equip students with much knowledge,but more importantly,to enable students to be active creators (Johnson Keith,2001).Third,Memorial Learning is to help students memorize new things better and easier with what they have learnt before.In this class,I will give suitable advice or clues when necessary.

2.5 Analysis of Layout of the Blackboard

Blackboard,as the main teaching material,is usually divided into three parts: one for vocabulary,one for structures,and another for free writing.

3 Conclusion

Students feedback is the best evidence to the designs efficiency.During the whole class,the teacher should try to arouse their learning interest,guide them to use the reading skills and help them build a positive value of the world.Students should always be the main body of the class.Only through this can the teacher know his/her students need and trouble in learning,and then find a suitable way to help them out.
