探討英語語法中的“雙胞胎現象”

在我們平時的英語語法教學中，我們可以發現一個有趣的現象——“雙胞胎現象”，英語語法中的“雙胞胎現象”指的是二個不同的語法體系或二個不同的語法點在使用的原理方面幾乎一模一樣。

下面以英語中的結果狀語從句和感嘆句的相似性為例，來進行論證說明：

我們知道so…… that（如此…以致于），? such…… that（如此…以致于）引導的從句屬于結果狀語從句;而what 和how可用來引導感嘆句.如果我們進一步分析就可以發現這二個語法點之間存在驚人的相似處，請比較表格（一）的內容：

表格（一）

感嘆句（what+名詞+主+謂！）結果狀語從句（such+名詞+that）

1. What+a/an+adj.+cn.（單）+主+謂！

eg：What a smart boy Peter is！1. such +a/an+adj.+cn.（單）+that

eg：Peter is such a smart boy that we like him.

2. What+adj.+ cn.（復） +主+謂！

eg：What smart boys they are！2. such +adj.+cn.（復）+that

eg：They are such smart boys that we like them.

3. What+adj.+un. +主+謂！

eg：What fine weather it is！3. such+adj.+un. + that

eg：It is such fine weather that we can play outside.

分析表格（一），我們可以得知：

在感嘆句中，what用來引導修飾名詞，與結果狀語從句中such用來引導修飾名詞的原理一樣.而且當what/such+名詞時，它們都可以分成三種情況：

1.What/such+a/an+adj.+cn（單） ;

2.What/such +adj.+ cn.（復） ;

3.What/such +adj.+un.;

即名詞可以分成：可數名詞的單數， 可數名詞的復數，不可數名詞三種情況來討論.

再比較下表格（二）的內容：

感嘆句（How+形/副+主+謂！）結果狀語從句（so+形/副+that）

1.How+形+主+謂！

eg：How big the classroom is！1. so+形+that

eg：The classroom is so big that we like it.

2. How+副+主+謂！

eg：How slowly Peter is walking！2. so+副+that

eg：Peter is walking so slowly that he will be late for his class.

3.（特例） How+adj.+a/an+cn.（單） +主+謂！

eg：How smart a boy Peter is！3. （特例） so+adj.+a/an+cn.（單） +that…..

eg：Peter is so smart a boy that we like him.

分析表格（二），我們可以得知：

感嘆句how用來引導修飾形容詞或副詞，與結果狀語從句中so用來引導修飾形容詞或副詞的原理類似.而且當how /so +adj./adv.時，它們也可以分成三種情況：

1.How /so+adj……. （形容詞）

2.How/so+adv……. （副詞）

3.How/so+adj.+a/an+cn.（名詞單數）……

此外，在考查句子語序的問題上，我們同樣可以發現“雙胞胎現象”，即詞匯的排序要遵循一樣的原理。例：

how+adj.+a/an+cn.（單） +主+謂！

however+adj.+a/an+cn.（單） +主+謂！

so +adj.+a/an+cn.（單） +that…..

as+adj.+a/an+cn.（單） +as.......

too + adj.+a/an+cn.（單） +to do.....

分析以上五個句子，我們可以發現它們所具有的共性：，一是句子中使用的都是可數名詞的單數形式;二是形容詞從不定冠詞的后面調到名詞的前面;換而言之，若句子使用的可數名詞的復數或不可數名詞，我們則不能使用上面句型。

例句：

例1： How kind a teacher Miss Lin is！

例2： However difficult a problem it is， Tony can work it out！

例3： Miss Lin has so diligent a daughter that she is very proud.

例4：Tony has as clever a daughter as Lisa does.

例5： Because that restaurant asks for too high a price， Miss Lin wont go there to have dinner.

因此， 在學習英語語法的過程中， 我們應該多觀察，多思考，我們就可以發現并歸納出隱藏在語言現象中的規律.這樣，我們學習起來就可以收到事半功倍的效果。
