A LM-2D launch vehicle launched the Shiyan 6-02 satellite into its preset orbit from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center at 07:44 Beijing time on July 5.
Developed by the Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology, the LM-2D launch vehicle is a two-stage conventional liquid propellant rocket, capable of sending a single satellite or multiple satellites into different orbits. The launch procedure of 13-working day duration was adopted for this mission, which was conducted following two LM-2D launch missions on May 31 and June 17.
The LM-2D was modified further on the basis of a dual strapdown control system to improve its reliability.Meanwhile, the time sequence control system of the rocket was modified as well, using a unified solid state solution to achieve task switching to improve the ability of system design not based on a specific launch mission.
The main tasks of the Shiyan 6-02 satellite include space environmental exploration and related technological tests.
This was the 338th launch of the Long March series launch vehicle.(SONG Haowei/China Space News)
