Ivanhoe Book Report

At the end of the 12th century， the British "lion heart king" Richard launched the Crusade， the class was captured by the Duke of Austria on the way， imprisoned in the castle. The next day， Ivanhoe， assisted by Richard's black knight in disguise， defeated the siege of the Norman knights and won. But he was seriously wounded， thanks to the Jewish Isaac and his daughter Rebecca careful healing， only out of danger. On their way home， Sedric and Rowena meet Isaac and his daughter. They travel together and are kidnapped by Brion to the castle of De Bev. Richard the Lionheart learned that the castle had been taken with the help of Robin Hood. Brion robbed Rebecca to the Templar monastery. Rebecca gave them her blessing and left England with her father.

The outstanding achievement of the novel "Ivanhoe" lies in its true and vivid representation of the history of the heyday of feudalism in England at the end of the twelfth century， and its comprehensive and profound reflection of the complex contradictions in the society at that time.In this complex of contradictions， there is always a main line running through the whole text， that is， the author advocated to reconcile social contradictions， so that social members can live together peacefully. The author's tolerant attitude towards the Jews is a reflection of this theme.

I summed up three key points in the process of reading， which will be of greater help to the future reading.Reading depends on persistence. Second， learn to guess the meaning of unfamiliar words in context.Third， pay attention to the speed of reading.At the beginning of contact with the English original work， the speed is certainly not happy， because it will encounter a lot of strange words and strange expressions， but must not greatly reduce their reading speed because of such obstacles. In fact， a book can read several times， the first time when the whole browsing know a general meaning， the encountered problems are marked out， the second time to read carefully before breaking the problems encountered， the third throughout the later can be smooth reading.

In the future， I will choose to read more English novels that I am interested in， so as to improve my English ability and literary accomplishment.
