IBM針對客戶發起能源使用效率認證項目

The new CSR Europe website is underway for the official launch at the MarketPlace. IBM Launches Energy Efficiency Certificate Programme for Customers
IBM has announced an initiative to enable clients to earn energy efficiency certificates for reducing the energy needed to run their data centers. The certificates earned - based on energy use reduction verified by a third-party -provide a way for businesses to attain a certified measurement of their energy use reduction.
Nature Day: Toyota Employees Worked with Natuurpunt
On Sunday, November 18th, a group of employees from Toyota Motor Europe and their family members took their warm clothes and courage to come and help Natuurpunt. This nongovernmental organisation is one of Belgium's major nature conservation organisations. Since 2003 Toyota Motor Europe established a partnership with Natuurpunt to further enhance their work.
HP University Grant Recipients Gather for Networking and Best Practice Sharing
On October 10th, current and previous recipients of HP’s Technology for Teaching Higher Education grant in Europe, the Middle East and Africa gathered in London for the first European Higher Education Forum. Since the inception of the grant scheme in 2003, an annual worldwide conference has been part of the one-year programme for grant recipients, but this is the first year a dedicated conference took place in Europe.
Sony Goes Green with 'Eco Edition' Vaio Notebook
Sony has launched an 'Eco Edition' range of its Vaio notebooks. As part of the launch, the company has promised to donate one per cent of the price of each notebook to non-profit organisations working to preserve the environment via an alliance of businesses committed to creating a healthier environment. Sony also offers rebates to consumers who trade in used PCs.
Intel Launches 16 New Lead-Free, Energy-Efficient Chips
Intel announced a new line of processors for servers and high-end PCs that will continue the increase in computing performance without increasing energy use. Products using these new products can be more cost-effective while increasing performance.
Epson Receives WorldStar Award for its Environmentally-Conscious Packaging
Seiko Epson Corporation has been awarded the WorldStar Award in the Electronics Category for its globally standardized packaging for printer ink cartridges. Sponsored by the World Packaging Organisation, WorldStar 2007 winners were selected by an expert panel. Epson’s packaging system was simplified by adopting an internationally standardized package design utilizing 100 % recycled paper boxes partially printed in monochrome and making the boxes identifiable by affixing labels printed with product details. The Volvo Environment Prize 2007 is awarded to Amory B Lovins; Chief scientist and co-founder of Rocky Mountain Institute, Snowmass, Colorado, USA, for his outstanding achievements in the field of energy efficiency.
Fortis Wins Award for Best CSR Report
Belgium’s Institute of Company Auditors (IREIBR) has just awarded its ninth annual prize for the country’s best corporate social responsibility report to Fortis’s Corporate Social Responsibility Report 2006. Having won the Belgian Prize, Fortis’s report will now be presented to the European Sustainability Reporting Association (ESRA), which seeks to promote Europe’s best CSR reports.

英國要求商業界進行循環利用或廢物處理
2007年10月30日開始,英國要求所有公司在運送垃圾到填埋場前先要進行循環利用或廢物處理。在新“生產者預處理”法規中,這是生產者在運送垃圾到填埋場前的一項附加工作,此舉旨在減少運送到垃圾填埋場的垃圾數量,違規的公司將面臨罰款;罰款的金額由政府決定。

UK Businesses Required to Recycle or Treat Waste
Starting October 30, 2007, all UK businesses will be required to recycle or treat their waste before sending any to landfill. Under the new “Producer pre-treatment”regulations, which are an addition to the Landfill Directive intended to reduce the amount of rubbish taken to landfill, companies failing to comply will face fines; the amount is yet to be determined by the government.
Dutch Fund Mandates Socially Responsible Investment
The Dutch pension fund, PGGM, has partnered with Mercer LLC to issue what is believed to be “the first very large mandate for emerging market equities that is explicitly looking for managers that implement environmental, social and corporate governance [ESG] factors into their decision-making process.”
UN Partners with Google and Cisco Systems to Track Global Efforts to Fight Poverty
The United Nations, in partnership with Google Inc. and Cisco Systems Inc., launched a new Web site last Thursday that will provide data and a bird’s eye view of efforts to fight poverty and meet the UN Millennium Development Goals by 2015.
China Regulates New-Energy Automobiles
China’s top economic planner, the National Development and Reform Commission, has promulgated a new regulation regarding the qualifications of manufacturers for automobiles powered by new energies. New-energy automobiles were defined as hybrid cars battery electric vehicles (BEV), fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV), hydrogen-fueled vehicles and vehicles powered by other new types of fuel.
UN Releases Final Report on Climate Change
On Nov. 17 the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released its fourth and final report, which summarizes and integrates the most significant findings of three sections of the panel’s review released from January through April. Although the data is not new, this was the first time the three sections had been looked at together in their entirety, leading the scientists to new emphasis and more sweeping conclusions.

Ceres, a nonprofit investors' coalition working with companies to address sustainability challenges, published a report that identifies more than 400 products and services related to tackling climate change. Hong Kong Releases Environmental Guide for Businesses
Hong Kong’s Environmental Protection Department released the “Environmental Guide for Smart Business,”providing an overview of local environmental legislation and infrastructure to assist trade and industry to implement appropriate environmental measures.
