With the possible exception of another world war， a giant planet， or an incurable disease， global warming may be the largest danger to our planet. For decades human factories and cars have sent billions of tons of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere， and the climate has begun to show some signs of warming. If steps are not taken soon to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide sent into the atmosphere， the result could terribly affect human life. We have already seen growing destruction， such as drought and death in Sudan， flooding in Asia， bush fires in Indonesia， and fierce winter storms in central Europe.

The Republic of Maldives is barely above sea level. Its 250， 000 citizens are scattered across 1，200 islands in the Indian Ocean. A strong typhoon could spell the end for the entire country， as could continue rising sea levels. The entire population would have to be moved away as the country disappears under the sea.

The greenhouse effect is a naturally occurring phenomenon that keeps our planet at a comfortable temperature averaging 60 F. Since the mid-nineteenth century， however， carbon dioxide in the atomshere has increased nearly 30% because of the increased use of fossil fuels to run cars， heat homes and power factories. Without controlling， the amount of carbon-dioxide by 2100 may increase by 30%-150% and could lift the average global temperature by up to 2.5 F in the next 50 years.

As for this total lunar eclipse， it began at 22:06 GMT， while ended at 22:57. The whole progress lasted for 51 minutes. It is said by the experts that it was the most spectacular total lunar eclipse in recent 10 years because it occurred in the early midnight. If the weather permitting， most of the Chinese people were fortunate enough to enjoy the blood-red moon， which looked like a red lantern hanging high in the sky. And in China， the next total eclipse will be seen on October.8.2014.

From the passage we know that because the serious result of global warming， seaside countries like the Republic of Maldives are in danger of disappearing.

As we know， Global warming has became perhaps the most complicated issue nowadays. Everyone believes that it is caused by the activities of humans， such as， the rapid growth of population， the use of fossil fuels to run our cars， heat homes and power factories.

With the increasing of greenhouse gases， it will cause many bad effects. A warmer global climate melts the ice caps， raising sea levels. Some seaside countries are facing the danger of disappearing. What’s more， it disturbs the weather patterns， causing droughts， severe storms， hurricanes， floods and so on. People suffer a lot from disasters relevant to global warming. Most of us are worried about global warming.

I think， as middle school students， we can make some efforts to stop global warming. First， if we are not using the lights， the TV， the computer， turn them off. Second， put on more clothes instead of turning up the heart in winter. Third， walk or ride a bike as much as possible. As long as all of us make a contribution to preventing the temperature from going up， this problem will be solved one day.
