Poverty and Inequality in Globalization

【Abstract】the term “globalization” has evoked a series of hot debates in recently years. As we all know， the high speed of development of worlds science and economics， it is inevitable that the globalization has been a phenomenon. However， it will not only bring the advantages， but the disadvantages. This article will illustrate this point.

It is necessary to discuss the deep meaning on what exactly the globalization is before answering the question. In general， it refers resources， like capital， information， technology， labor， flowing on a global scale. And it is also one benchmark that economic development reaches a higher and deeper lever.

Back to this question， my answer is partly right.

It is well？鄄known that the globalization is a double？鄄edged sword. It accelerates the development of productivity， speeds up the world economy， and offers a scarce historical chance for developing country to chase the developed countries. However， it also makes the international competition fiercer， and causes a series of problems such as the imbalanced distribution of wealth， which force the developing countries think once again how to face the great challenges brought by the globalization.

For the developed country， the advantage is over the disadvantage on globalization. On economics， the developed countries expand their original markets， plant a lot of branches in other countries， especially the factory which cause terrible pollution. The developed countries always have a higher level of technology； they try to control the developing countries depending on the high？鄄technology product.

Especially in term of the environment， that developed countries move industry plants producing industrial pollution into developing countries， the pollution does great harm to the developing countries， which is unfair， and the developed countries gain more benefits from their technical superiority. Therefore， the developing countries have to take the consequences. It is well？鄄known that the goods and talents will circulate among countries on the world in the globalization process， therefore， the phenomena of Globalization has a higher demanding to the economic development. In order to reach the economic goal， people manage to mine more mineral to satisfy the need of the industry development. From the perspective of the developing country， the economic growth is achieved at the expense of the environment， and it is clear to see from the “APEC blue”.

From the above all， it is clear that both developed countries and developing countries gain a lot and lose a lot on different aspects during the process. However， there is one common point they have to deal with together： the problem of poverty and economic inequality. It is noticed on the Forbes that the wealth of the world are increasing gradually every year， whereas the number of the poor are growing as well. It is a problem prevailing in the world. On the other hand， the discrepancy among different regions is also visible， for example， the GDP growth of cities in the Southeast coast of China is twice or three times higher than those of others.

Is there any research that studied the reasons？ The rich have more chances to cultivate themselves during the process； in return， they will use the knowledge to create more wealth. As for the poor， they have little money to feed them up at the beginning， and the globalization lifts up the prices of the commodities. Cash in the hands of the poor is only for food， and they have no more finance and capacity to develop. Day after day， the situation becomes adverse beyond our imagination. In order to address the problem， all nations in the world should make proper policy， and take effective measures to tackle the challenges by joining hands and take into consideration of real situation.
