Attend是一個高考重點詞，常考的含義有“出席，參加（會議等）”“上（學）”，讓我們來看看高考中的例子：attend an education program （2014年山東卷）、attend a concert （2015年廣東卷）。除了這兩個常用含義之外，高考還會考attend較為少見的兩個含義，來看下面的例句：Annie Salmon， disabled， is attended throughout her school days by a nurse appointed to guard her. （2014年浙江卷）在這句話中，attend是“照料”的意思，整句話意為：殘疾的安妮·薩蒙在校期間都是由被指定看護她的護士來照料的。再來看一個例句：During the period of recent terrorist activities， people were always being warned not to touch any unattended bag. （2009年上海卷）在這句當中，unattended bag表示“無人看管的包”，attend表示“看管”，整句話的意思是：在最近的恐怖活動期間，人們經(jīng)常被警告不要去觸碰無人看管的包。
