At the invitation of the Chinese People’s Association for Peace and Disarmament (CPAPD), a delegation consisted of 20 NGO leaders from Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, the Philippines and Cambodia visited China from March 1 to 13, 2017. In Beijing, Vice President of the CPAPD He Jun met with the delegation, and Deputy Secretary General of the CPAPD Tao Tao briefed the delegation about China’s national conditions and political system and held a work discussion. An expert from China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations had a thematic introduction to the delegation. The delegation attended Wanshou Forum with the theme of the Current International Security Situation and Its Features. Besides Beijing, the delegation also took field trips and visited some modern agricultural projects, new countryside construction, grass-root CPC building, hi-tech enterprises, local community and so on in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Guangdong Province.
At the invitation of the CPAPD, a scholars group of peace and security think tanks from Czech, Finland, Iceland, Poland and Sweden visited China from February 28 -March 10, 2017. In Beijing, CPAPD Vice President Yu Hongjun met with the group, and CPAPD Deputy Secretary General Tao Tao briefed the group about China’s national conditions and political system and held a work discussion with it, and the scholars from Europe also attended the Wanshou Forum with the theme of the Current International Security Situation and Its Features. In addition to Beijing, the group also toured Chongqing and Shanghai Municipalities, and the scholars shared discussions with Shanghai Institutes of International Studies on China-Europe security cooperation under the new situation.
At the invitation of the CPAPD, a delegation of Australia-China Relations Institute (ACRI) headed by Australian former Foreign Minister and Director of the ACRI Bob Carr visited China from March 26 to 31, 2017. In Beijing, Vice President of the CPAPD Zhou Li met with the delegation, and Deputy Secretary General of the CPAPD Tao Tao held a work discussion. The delegation called upon China Institute of International Studies, Tsinghua University, and Renmin University of China, exchanging views on issues of common concern with scholars from the three institutions respectively. Besides Beijing, the delegation also toured Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. Mr. Wang Heshan, Vice Chairman of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region People’s Government met with the delegation. The delegation toured Ningxia Museum, Yin Chuan Binhe New Area, Najiahu Mosque and a Muslim family.
